Pros:
-creek and elevation used very effectively
-new signs for the new layout
-decent challenge with the creek and OB paths
-close to Jimmy Porter
Cons:
-no signature holes, barely even any stand out ones
-uninspiring layout and basket positions
-old baskets in okay condition
-no bathrooms or drinking water on site
-despite the new signs, navigation is not obvious
-i'm not a stickler on having concrete tees but the natural tees here are rutted and muddy most of the time. hole 5 has a concrete pad, hole 7 throws from the concrete path under the bridge, and holes 13 & 15 throw from the sidewalk at the top of the hill. those last 2 are really inconvenient too.
Other Thoughts:
Greenbelt is a decent course that is all about staying in bounds and out of the creek. There are trees in play on many holes but they don't really force any specific lines, there are always options off the tee. The creek comes into play on just about every hole to some degree.
Beginners will appreciate the openness of the course but will be intimidated by all the water. Experienced players will probably not mind the water but won't find much challenge in the holes. The water makes for a great pucker factor but it loses its luster after so many holes in a row. Since the holes are mostly open, the creek can feel more like punishment at times than adding to the course; it just eats discs.
The elevation on the back 9 really saves this course. Holes 12-15 play up and down a large hill and break up the monotony of throwing back and forth across or next to the creek with few other obstacles. I also really like hole 11: you have to cross the creek with a low ceiling to a large green with the creek on two sides.
Greenbelt makes a convenient pairing with Jimmy Porter down the street. Unfortunately they are similar courses but JP is a little more technical with more trees to avoid.
The new layout is barely new. There are only a few changed holes around 5-8, namely because the construction redirected the course of the creek in that area. If you played here in the past and weren't impressed, you will still be unimpressed.
