New and Improved 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 2, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Very Well-Maintained
Two Pin Placements Per Hole
Nice Concrete Tee Pads
Good Location
Fully Stocked Disc Golf Store Nearby (1 Mile South)
Disc Also At Gas Station Nearby (.8 Mile North)
Ample Parking
Benches and Trashcans Throughout
Requires a Good Variety of Shots
Good Variety of Distances

Cons:

Can Get Crowded
Attracts a Lot Dis-Courteous Golfers
Other Park Users Can/Will Interfere
Have to Cross Fairways to Next Tee
Baskets Are Getting Rough
Too Open
Many Holes Are Very Similar
Prone to Flooding

Other Thoughts:

This is a decent local course. The entrance to the course can be easily missed if you aren't looking for it, but it is about 1000 feet north of Lane Avenue on Riverside Drive, just past the apartment complex at the intersection.

The course is a nice park-like setting. Grassy and flat, they made good use of the land they had to work with. The first hole is next to the bulletin board near the parking lot. Navigating the course isn't too bad, but there are a few places where you must cross the park and other fairways to get to the next tee causing a little confusion, but all the tee pads are visable from the previous basket.

The new placements add challenge and a great new feel to this course. Holes have a pretty good variety as far as distance is concerned, but most of the holes seem to be either straight shots, or anhyzers, but there are a couple good hyzer shots as well.

This course is definitely worth playing if you are in the area, but if you have a limited time Brent Hambrick, as well as the additions of Alum Creek and Pickerington, are much better options.

Griggs a.k.a. riverside 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 17, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Well-maintained course and closer to the city than most other parks in the area. I find the course challenging enough to keep me coming back, especially with the new pin placements. Good jog guys!

Cons:

This park always seems to be busy. If you're not very patient, try playing either before noon or after 7 pm (during summer months).

Other Thoughts:

I look forward to playing the Wednesday Doubles that are held every wednesday at 6 p.m.

Good course for quick play. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 26, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The course is well maintained. "B" pin placements have been added to help with the maintenance of the course. Most holes are between 200-400', so a good range for non-pros. Closed road up the middle of the course and river on the return side of the course are OB. Many holes going out are in the bushes (with an opening), making for blind holes from the tee. Because the course is an out and back course, you can cut from holes on the outward track to holes on the inward track to make a shorter course, if you are running short on time (or wanted to thow some holes on lunch break).

Cons:

Almost every hole turns to the right (the few that do not are straight). No dog-leg holes. In years with heavy rain, the river can flood and turn some holes into mud puddles. Hard to find the first time.

Other Thoughts:

Some left-turning holes would have improved it. Improved signage would help first-times find the course.

Home course for many in Columbus 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 23, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

+ A & B pin placements
+ Discs available near by, DiscGolf Mart located a mile south of the course, and the Marathon Station located shortly north of the course
+ Local course for many players in the Disc Golf community
+ Monday and Wednesday Random Draw Doubles, starts usually around 5pm - 6pm depending on length of daylight.
+ Has several tournaments each year

Cons:

- Can get very busy
- Lots of wear and tear, but the community is working towards fixing up the course
-B placements are new (2009) so distance is just written on hole poles with a marker, not on the official signage.
- Pin #2 is usually used as a practice tee since there aren't any, can confuse people teeing off, but just let anyone know you are throwing and the community is well aware and respectful.

Other Thoughts:

Great course with short & some semi-long and simple technical play. You can meet a lot of community players at this course.

Home Coarse 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 17, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

I really like this coarse because of the great driving chances. Many holes are easy twos and can really be fun. The tee pads are really nice and well kept.

Cons:

This coarse is always really busy. Lots of big groups and begginers.

Other Thoughts:

There is a old road through the middle and a great place for a walk

Nice neighborhood course. 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 16, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a good neighborhood course.

It is laid out well considering the shape of the land they are using. The park is well maintained and does offer some amenities.

This is the type of course to spend time with the family or friends and shoot the breeze. It offers enough for a experienced player but allows a beginner enough grace to enjoy the game and learn.

Mostly an open course with some big trees. A couple of blind shots that require some finesse. It is marked well and the pads are concrete which is nice.

Parking was not a problem.

Cons:

It was busy the day I played but not bad enough to slow my game or have to deal with rude behavior.

The course is not the easiest place to find. The park is real long and it is at one end.

A map is needed in order to find the tee on the blind baskets and determining which tee was next on a couple the map is needed.

Some of the fairways come close to tees. A little off on a drive at 9 and it could go flying at someone teeing off on 12. This also happens on several others.

Need something in place to tell which basket you are throwing to. Whether it is A or B.

Other Thoughts:

If you just want to go out and throw some and its close by it is a good place to go.

A good place to learn.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 22, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Concrete pads, posts that let you know what hole it is and the distance of the hole. A decent variety of shorter and longer holes. The course is pretty well maintained. The only course that I have played that has wood chips placed around the pin, kind of like a green if compared to a regular golf course. This is an interesting and welcome idea.

Cons:

The course is commonly packed. Holes 6 and 7 are just about identical, besides tree placement. Hole 9 is missing its post.

Other Thoughts:

This can be a fun course because it's easily walked and the people that play it are normally very friendly. So if you go by yourself you can normally join up with someone else. There are tournament every so often. Also there are people that come and sit in the parking lot to sell discs, they are normally reasonably priced.

Pros:

concrete pads, nice baskets. not a lot of twists and turns, pretty straight forward. course has lots of trees which are well manicured and placed to raise the difficulty level.

Cons:

distance is not the strong part of this course. most people do not play with OB and that changes the course a lot. plays quickly if no one is around (usually early), can get crowded.

Pros:

Pretty much a humdrum course. Nothing special and I was partly bored playing. It was pretty crowded when I played so it gets a lot of use. All holes seemed very similar and none except for the last hole was really long. On a side note, I saw more players taking 3-10 extra steps teeing off on every hole than any other park. We laughed a lot as it seemed everyone there was trying to get every advantage they could teeing off. We watched 5 groups tee off on number one and everyone of them would run up further and further before releasing their disc.
