Pretty, Safe, Small Town Park Course

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 7, 2023 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

This is another pretty good example of well thought out inclusion of disc golf into a rolling community park, where they didn't try to shoehorn in too many holes, but used alternate tees for variety. The target audience (recreational to intermediate) will find plenty of fun, challenge, and variety for repeat play. Flight lines from the level concrete tees include elevation, directional angles, and sparse obstacles to work around. Baskets are older DGA's, but the type that have held up for decades. Signage is getting a little old and faded, and obviously only appears at the 'original' (short) tees. It might have been just me playing my fourth course of the day, but the hole lengths -seemed- a hair longer than listed 😊 Course flow was good, especially from short tees, and the gps generated map loaded here was adequate to the task of navigating this fun loop.

Cons:

The lack of signage at the 'longs' meant a little exploration for a first time out of towner, and I chose to skip the hole(s: 5/14) that have been usurped by the newer splash park. For safety, I'd recommend actually placing picnic tables or benches on those slabs, and redesigning the shot(s) so folks don't assume it's 'OK' to throw over another park activity. The only other places where I thought about safety (or distraction) were the playground to the right of 1 and the tennis fence at the 9th basket. Finally, expect a bit of an uphill hike from the side creek pedestal basket on 8/17 to the pines for 9/18.

Other Thoughts:

This type of course is what I've come to refer as a Two by Nine, that should be listed as a nine hole course with two tees per basket. Even when the lines of flight are different, it's technically nine fairways.

Noted 11/25/23, fyi: I'm not sure where the map I uploaded or the course condition update went to... And the signs you see in the pictures are 11 years of UV sun faded, to the point where many are ...just... legible. Finally, the pics are also 11 years old here.
