Pros:
Indian Hills is less than three miles from Albert Oakland Park and less than eight miles from the # 1 rated Harmony Bends and the three courses share many of the same characteristics owing to the fact that they are all three products of the Columbia Parks Department.
Indian Hills has the same great signs, the same washer system showing what position the basket is placed, the same nice concrete tee pads and the same Mach II baskets with the yellow number plates on the top. The large park has all the usual amenities plus the dog park near the start.
The first seven holes are more open before moving into a tighter, technical wooded course. The holes did mostly have a similar feel until I reached # 11. I think it's the signature hole here. It's about 350', requires an annie or fade and only the yellow plate of the basket shows from the tee. Then when you reach the basket, you find it set in this cool, little indentation. All around cool hole.
Cons:
I thought this course mostly has an old school feel to it's design. The first 10 holes were either straight or required a hyser. The last 7 holes all played between 201 and 249'. After having just played Harmony Bends with it's incredible variety of holes the day before, Indian Hills seemed so redundant by comparison. But it's really not fair to compare any course to Harmony Bends.
Other reviewers have complained about the flow or navigation of the course but I didn't have that much trouble finding my way around. I had to back track once or twice.
Other Thoughts:
Indian Hills is one of those courses that has just enough challenge, is convenient enough and probably gets a lot of play. I can understand the attraction. It's a very solid course. If I lived close, I'm sure I'd be perfectly content to play many enjoyable, safe rounds here. But I also think, I'd probably be forever gazing at other, more attractive courses. Gees, this sounds much like many of my longtime married friends. Not me, of course! I've never once had the inclination to even glance at another woman.
