Close to perfect! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 28, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great Layout, It's got a good mixture of open holes, up hill holes, down hill holes, water holes and lots of Left & Right grassy fairways. White Castle not to far away.

Cons:

Pond is a disc eater! Can get muddy here. The 1 extreme up hill hole is very hard!

Other Thoughts:

Left Handers will do better here.

Solid course with nice balance 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 4, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

18 holes with great concrete tee pads and nice signs at each hole. Baskets are all good and have no issues. Park is very well maintained and so is the course. Navigation is also easy even without a map. Only exception would be hole 15-16. See cons for details.

Course starts out fairly basic with the first 6 holes simply playing through a mix of open fairways lined with trees or having a few trees mixed throughout. They are all decent holes, but nothing too exciting.

Hole 7 has about a 200' water carry over a pond with a basket perched 313' from the tee. Nice little pond hole.

Hole 9 is a fun 538' bomb with an open field turning to trees and then a green with the creek behind the basket. Pretty shot.

Hole 10 is a beast that looks simple from the tee, until you get to the base of the steep hill you must get up. There is major roll-away risk to the right and a steep, fast green. Great hole!

Holes 11-13 play along a open easement or old roadbed area and play pretty much open with woods along the fairway to add some risk. 14-17 all play through some fairly tight wooded fairways and throw in a small amount of elevation to add some challenge.

18 is simply a great finishing hole. A nice down hill look from the tee pad crossing the creek on the way to a relatively open fairway. Then a nice straight look at the basket on the other side of the creek again. Two water carries in one hole, and lots of ways to play depending on where you reach off the tee. A fun and beautiful hole all in one. Well done!

Cons:

Not much to complain about here. Everything is pretty straightforward and well done. You do have to walk past the tee for 16 to get to the 15 pad. That's a little odd, but doesn't really hurt anything.

Other Thoughts:

There were really only 2 or 3 holes here I'd call above average or exceptional, but nonetheless this is a very nice course. Its strengths are the variety of ups, downs, open and tight. And of course there are multiple water carries and chances to over shoot basket and hit the creek. There is also not really a bad hole on this course. There is nothing I'd consider a filler hole or something you look at and wonder what the heck is going on. It's all just very nice, orderly, scenic and challenging. Jordan Creek is definitely a must play if you are in this part of PA. It might not be as challenging as Nockamixon or offer up as much variety as Tyler St Park, but it is very good in its own right.

A dime 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 5, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Jordan Creek gets an A+ overall because of factors not limited to tee areas that are in good shape, great signage, easy navigation, a large and spread out course design that plays mostly through open woods and the occasional field, a good mix of par 3's and 4's both long and short, a wealth of drastic elevation changes, and good pin positions that are both fair and challenging.

Another sign of a great course to me is when I can call almost every single hole memorable, which is the case with Jordan. If I had to pick favorites, Hole 5 is really nice, playing through a tight initial column leading out of the woods opening up to a field that basically borders the yard of a house off to the left, with Jordan Creek flowing to the right. Sometimes they have an alternate basket across the creek, which ups the par by a stroke and IMO creates the best version of this hole. Hole 7 forces the tee shot to make it beyond a big pond (be careful!)--I love it when a hole forces you to play over water--to a small grove protected by trees where the two basket positions reside. Hole 8 follows this up with a nice snaking fairway through light woods to a hilltop basket, a great hole on the subtler end of the scale. Hole 10 welcomes you to the back 9 with a small mountain to climb, introducing big elevation to the course. This tee shot requires a big RHBH anny for most throwers, but it can be tough because the big wide path you'd like to take won't quite work because of the initial tree tunnel. Holes 11, 12, and 13 present a string of wide tunnel shots giving room for a long throw with one being uphill, one relatively level, and the last down a big hill. Hole 14 scratches the same itch as Hole 5 does for me, a beautifully designed hole that doesn't boast anything in particular, but it's a subtle gem playing through open wood with thin trees dotting the fairway that stretches slightly uphill and left to a hillside basket. Lastly, Hole 18 is a boss of a closer. The ideal tee shot is a RHBH anny that travels down a large hill over the creek and banks right to a landing area. The next shot (or 2 hehe) forces you to hit a gap of choice through trees and over a creek for a second time to the grove containing the basket--the most challenging hole on the course.

An added bonus is that Hole 1 and 2 form a small loop right at the parking lot, so you can play these again after 18, since you practically have to stumble over them to get to your car. Who wouldn't want to make it a 20 hole day?

Cons:

Sometimes, this course requires you to coexist with dog walkers, hikers, and bikers since there is a large trail intertwined throughout the course. Usually it doesn't pose much of an issue. To my knowledge, there wasn't an available bathroom near the parking lot, but I am not 100% that I didn't simply miss it. The course is in a busy suburb, so it can get crowded on the weekend sometimes, but with most epic courses, there's no avoiding this reality.

Other Thoughts:

Jordan Creek is a slice of heaven for disc golfers. In the hour radius around Philadelphia, I put this course right up there with Tyler, Nockamixon, Camp Sankanac, Iron Hill, and Carousel. There's really not a lot that could better the design here. It has a wealth of variety hole to hole, demanding a large tool kit of skills for most facets of the game. The course plays through a large park that traverses by houses, along rivers, up and down hills, through woods, across bridges, by a pond, along hiking/biking trails...overall a great representation of our sport to those unfamiliar with disc golf. For me, Jordan is over an hour away, but I'll be making the trip at least a dozen times a year.

Does Much Well 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 28, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

For those who fancy epic finishing holes, it's hard to top #18. From an elevated position at the edge of the woods, the broad creek flows beneath you. A shot straight out then turning right, neither too early (creek) nor too late (trees) places you in the middle of the fairway. From here, your challenge is to determine if you can throw, in addition to a straight shot, one long enough to clear a small branch of the creek that crosses several feet in front of the lightly tree-guarded basket.

Friendly locals: We unwittingly arrived ~75 minutes before the start of a doubles tournament, and the course was a-buzz with players warming-up. Despite the crowds, we managed to play through/with several groups, and were just finishing #17 when the start-call began to echo throughout the course. With nobody starting on #18, we finished w/o interfering with the tournament.

Cons:

Not much - maybe a second set of tees/more alternate pin positions to add variety?

Other Thoughts:

This very well-maintained course, with its excellent teepads and good signage, plays in the various-sized clearings and through modestly-dense woods, of a public park, named for the broad creek which wends its way through the midst of it.

From a shot-shaping perspective, the course requires an even blend of lefts/rights/straights off the teepad. While the fairways for a few of the short holes are fairly tight, and for a few of the long quite broad, most fall into the middling category. Several baskets are guarded by a few trees, but nothing ridiculous.

Distance-wise, 2/3rds of the holes fall into the 260'-340' range, with the remaining 1/3rd average ~485', creating a course primarily built around typical-length par-3s, but also including some legitimate par-4s. Elevation-wise, you're wondering if there is any as you play the front nine, but then you spend the near entirety of the back nine playing up or down an access path, or the woods to the left of it.

Excellent course. Looking forward to again visiting the disc-golf hotbed which is the greater Allentown area, and having a chance to savor this course during a less-rushed round.

Front 9 vs Back 9 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:May 14, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

18 holes with nice concrete tees, baskets, multiple pin placements, and good tee signs. Excellent variety of shots and use of elevation and terrain. Really enjoyed holes 7-18 and has a high fun factor with some high risk. Course is really well maintained and was manicured like a ball golf course. Well defined fairways with some punishing rough and ob to keep the risk vs reward factor high.

Cons:

Could use some next tee signs as there are some extra paths that may lend one to believe that is the way to the next tee. The creek may take your disc away, it's not your average little creek. The flow is little funky and cross over the fairway of hole 17 to get to hole 12. There are bikers, hikers, and fishing about the course so beware. Hole 3 and 5 play close to the parking lot, house and tennis courts. A couple of the wooden stairs going down hole 18 were broken.

Other Thoughts:

There were a lot of disc golfers and others on the course in the middle of the weekday which kind of surprised me, so the park is fairly active. The whole course is mostly wooded and well defined fairways, and ob. The course is not too intimidating for a beginner and will still challenge a seasoned pro. It's almost like two completely different courses from the front and back 9's. The front 9 is fairly flat, short and technical with the creek and water and coming into play often. The back 9 plays over some extreme elevation and is where the course really got interesting for me. Holes 7-18, I thoroughly enjoyed!

Lots to like 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 6, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Fantastic 18 hole course. At the current time, holes 1 and 2 are back in business. Overall, the tee pads and signage are great. There are some truly signature holes here: 7 with the throw over the flooded mine shaft, 10 with the huge elevation change, and 18 with a throw over two water obstacles. The scenery is beautiful, fairways well maintained, and obvious constant care. The presence of a practice basket is also a nice amenity. I look forward to coming back to try all of the different pin placements. I have only played twice at this time, but already have experienced the variety that is offered here. Although there are walking and bike trails, it appears that disc golf is the most prevalent activity here, and it feels like the disc golfers own the land and it's more a case of bikers should watch out for disc golfers than disc golfers should watch out for bikers. Nice use of elevation, woods, and open areas to create some variety. Picnic benches at tees are also nice (minus the obscene graffiti).

Cons:

All the pin positions are marked on the tee signs, however, it isn't always obvious which pin is currently in play. There are a few holes that are similar (11/12, 15/16).

Other Thoughts:

All in all, a great course that adds to the Lehigh Valley experience. In my mind, Nockamixon ranks higher simply due to the greater variety of holes present there. Jordan Creek is a little easier of a trek, and does have better signage. One nod to Jordan Creek is the absence of monster par 5's, which as a beginner, I appreciate. The rough here can be really rough in spots with respect to thorns, so be careful. I consider myself a beginner and find this course enjoyable, though difficult at times. The pars are all very fair in my opinion. The care that is taken on this course is evident. Making temporary holes to grow grass on existing fairways, that's crazy! (in a good way)

Great course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 21, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is the best in the Lehigh Valley!
-Less then 5 minutes off of Route 22.
-There is a practice basket next to the parking lot, which comes in handy.
-Bulletin board next to the basket with information about the course.
-Holes 1 and 2 are currently under construction so there are two temporary holes near hole 3's picnic bench.
-Constant care, never overgrown fairways.
-Tight fairways, cause difficult but make able shots.
-Concrete tee pads.
-Hole signs. Very clear and show you exactly where you need to go.
-Well maintained tree limbs. You don't have to worry about teeing off and there be a tree limb, dangling 5 feet in front of you.
-Hole 5 has a new pin placement. Not quite done yet though.
-Hole 7's pond was about 5 feet below what it usually is after all the rain.
-Hole 18 now has a new and improved tee box.
-Never foot or bike traffic on this course! There are bike trails but most of them are not near the course. If there is someone on a bike they will be out of your way within seconds. Same with the foot traffic, barely any.
-Long par 4's (hole 10) and long par 3's (hole 13).
-Every type of shot is needed on this course.
-Also, none of the baskets have any dents or loose chains.

Cons:

-Parking sometimes is an issue during the summer because there are tennis courts in the same area.
-The temporary holes do not have tee box's so it can get a little slippery.
-A lot of poison ivy. If you stay on the fairway the whole time you don't have to worry. As soon as you go off, you may come into connect with a lot of poison.
-Since the course is wooded you do find snakes, mainly small snakes, but just watch where you walk because you do not want to step on one.
-Sometimes in the summer, hole 7 is extremely difficult to play because the water can reach the basket which means you cant possible play the hole without your disc going into the water.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, phenomenal course. It is maintained almost every other day and is never overgrown. This course is a mixture between a wooded course and an open course. Holes 11-13 is an open fairway with baskets 11 and 12 tucked about 10 yards in the woods. Then holes 14-17 are back in the woods again. On some holes (hole 4) you have to keep the disc low because you don't want to get caught in a tree. Then on hole 9 you can grip it and rip it.
If you are in Eastern PA, Jordan Creek should be one of your destinations.

newest update from LVDC 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 10, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Very well maintained by Lehigh County Parks fairways are mowed every week, plenty of parking, tee signs for every hole except new holes 4, 5, & new 6 tee pad. Have a great mixture of open and wooded holes, 6' x 12' concrete tee pads, I do my best to keep them swept and clean for everyone.

Cons:

Right now with walk from hole 4-5 some people get confused. The pond hole can always get people especially right now because the water level is very high about 25ft from the short pin. Over the summer the vegetation can get very thick on the sides and there is always that possibility of losing a disc.

Other Thoughts:

I'm one of the Course Representatives for the Lehigh Valley Disc Club and help to manage and maintain Jordan Creek. For those of you who have not played the course recently, there has been some updates and new holes added. Hole 4: the new tee pad is 90ft shorter than the previous pad and still plays 305ft to the left pin position and 301ft to the right position. Because of the new gravel trail that was put in last summer in the park we had to make a new hole 5. New hole 5 is across the bridge and down on your left great lefty hole, but still can get a birdie if your a RHBH. Hole 6 we are adding a new tee pad and long pin which will bring back a tougher par 4 to the front 9, that we lost when we were forced to take out old hole 5. The next big change that is coming and work has started on is a new hole 15. Which will be Jordan's first ever true par 5, can't wait!! We are hoping to have the 4 new tee's poured by 4/23/16 weather permitting. Also hope to have new hole 15 done by mid- June. I know many have said more 4's and 5s and I agree. Once the major work has been completed we will start looking for new locations to add long pins for each hole that does not have 2 pin placements already.

Pros:

Excellent use of landscape. Each hole is much different from the next. The hole across the pond, the hole across the basin, the hole up the hill and the last hole are top notch. Everything is extremely well maintained and the park is beautiful. The concrete tees are a huge plus and the sign and easy navigation are great as well.

Cons:

Holes 1 and 2 were temporary due to some issues but the temporary holes were better than most other courses anyway. Hole 3 sign showed an alternate basket but it must have been taken out due to trout season.

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 1, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course maintains a 5 rating in my book because of the consistent, if not improved, play of the course with each visit. Wooded and open play, variety of shots and pin positions, scenic appeal, mulch laden pathways, rubber tee pads, water hazards, and an abundance of signature holes are all pluses. Relatively no artificial OB. The Lehigh Valley Disc Golf Club signs are some of the better ones I've seen while navigating

Cons:

A few similar holes (11-12 mainly). 7 can be challenge to play due to flooding after heavy rains.

Other Thoughts:

The club has done a fantastic job preparing the course for the season with new pin positions and beautifully manicured mulch surrounding formerly wet tee pads and walk ways. The quality of the course continues to improve from year to year, and that can't be said for all courses in the region

Stopped by from Maine for a round or 5 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 23, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

Gets a 5.0 from me because I have yet to play any better. I purposely stayed in Allentown for a weekend to explore the cluster of highly rated courses in the area. Jordan Creek was the one that drew me back for a total of 5 rounds before I left - I just couldn't get enough of this course.

The course is immaculately maintained by park grounds crew. There are many grass fairways surrounded by or including trees. On this late fall day, even the most remote of them had been vacuumed free of leaves. Didn't see any garbage anywhere. Most roads would envy bridges as nice as this park had for river crossings.

Signage, tee pads and baskets all in great shape. There are some pictures here that look like natural tee boxes, but to the best of my recollection all of the tee boxes we of the improved variety, mostly grip textured concrete.

No real navigation issues for a first timer. The course traverses the park in a figure 8 loop and herd paths from one hole to the next are obvious (possible exception of 15 to 16 in the fall). The loop aspect is a great feature, adding a pleasant seclusion. You rarely can see golfers unless in front or behind you - No errant disc seekers on your fairway ever, no discs flying in unexpectedly. Even with a crowded parking lot, it feels like you have the course to yourself.

The level of play is exceptional. Lots of open but bordered fairways, that can take a full swing drive with your choice of disc - Followed by more technical approach work. Elevation and structure are constantly in play, while not being overbearing. Lots of water to keep you honest, the 18th hole crosses rivers twice! A decent share of holes have treed fairways, but never obnoxiously tight. Ground cover surrounding the fairways is not difficult to contend with if you ricochet off track (some pucker-brush though)

Cons:

Hole 7 and 8 had been overtaken by water from what the locals tell me was a summer full of consecutive storms. 8 was messy but playable. I didn't risk losing a disc on 7. Extrapolating from the signage it was about 275 across the water (a flooded mine shaft). The short pin placement was under water. Too risky a distance and too tight a space like this for me to consistently land a disc. You could see where many of the fairways showed signs of receded flooding. If what the locals say is true, this isn't normally a knock on this course.

There is a good amount of mountain bike and cross country runner traffic that a few times was sudden and unexpected.

Other Thoughts:

First time through, make sure to get the lay of the land, some fairways run along the river without being obvious from the tee. A few of the baskets are placed right up to the river's edge, but you can't necessarily see this from even from approach distance.

I liked that Lehigh County Parks had standardized the signage on at least this course and Lehigh Parkway ,that I had also played - Whether you like the information on the signs or not, knowing what to expect from signs when moving from one course to another is good for the game.

Most Memorable Hole: 18 with it's steep drop off the tee and daunting water crossings.

Favorite Holes: 9, 10, 13, 14 & 18

This is not a beginner course at all! Course is absolutely beautiful hands down! This course uses everything from water hazards to massive elevation changes to nice open fairway shots and tight wooded shots. Picnic tables throughout course along with trash cans and other benches. Par 58 which is not an easy task. The locals definitely take pride in this course and it shows! Hands down the Lehigh Valley Gem!

Cons:

Long distances. You'll get your practice in on this one. Some par about half and half par 3's and 4's. This is a very hard course and not for the faint of heart. Some VERY cool holes thought. One that forces you to throw over a pond. One that goes up a very steep incline.

Cons:

Some of the fairways are narrow and if you send a disc too far either way, you might lose it. It's the in the middle of a very heavily wooded area so when you do send a disc off course, it's difficult to find. But, that comes with the territory.

-Going from hole 11 to 12 you must pass in front of hole 17 tee(can be dangerous if its crowded which it can be and you aren't paying attention)

Other Thoughts:

Been playing this course for years and saw some of the changes they have made and I must say they are for the absolute best. The course has come a long way and it now is up at the top for must play disc golf course in eastern PA. Nice stretch of open holes and wooded holes with some nice water holes thrown in. Pretty much everything you want in a disc golf course. Props to Lehigh Valley Disc Golf organization for keeping this course in great shape.
If your traveling a distance to play this course make a day of it and play Little Lehigh Parkway and/or Nockamixon State park.
