Awesome hidden course, but challenging. 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 14, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

If you are looking for a challenge with a lot of variety this is the spot, the first two holes are very long without much room to really drill one. There is a blind shot down a hill with a creek just passed the basket on the 3rd hole, the 4th hole you have to make a long and accurate shot to be in any position to make it around a wall of trees on the right that is impossible to throw through, but there is also a pond on the left. The 5th hole is shot over a pond and onto a peninsula/mound with the basket up high so any inaccuracy is severally punished. Hole number 6 is a shot over a pond and a marsh with low overhanging trees directly in front of the tee. The disc snatching 7th hole runs right along the side of the pond and rhbh throwers may lose some discs. There is always wind funneled onto this hole that tends to push discs towards the pond. Hole 8 has only one flight path that allows for a good spot near the basket and it's a hyzer shot for rhbh that goes through a narrow alley of trees that slightly arcs towards the hole. The final hole lets you really crank one through an open field but then ends with a throw through trees, concrete tee boxes, always mowed, great use of the terrain and pond available.

Cons:

Hard to find.
Very difficult for beginners and intermediates.
Busy on nice days.

Other Thoughts:

If you are a beginner play the first three holes and the last two, otherwise you will probably lose several discs in the holes surrounding the pond.
If you are a skilled player looking for a new challenge go to this course, you won't be disappointed!

Disc Eater 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 13, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice concrete tee pads throughout. All baskets in good condition except for # 1 which was standing but with basket on the ground. A couple of the tee signs were down or missing, but the course was relatively easy to follow. Finding my way into the park might have been a problem if I wasn't playing with a local Disc Golfer (thanks Dale). Good variety of holes with great usage of available terrain. Seemed to me to be some fairly long drives involved.

Cons:

I can see this park being used a lot more in better weather, which might make play difficult. Lots of mud, even though the ponds were showing low water lines. Very challenging for a first timer and even for a steady player.

Other Thoughts:

This course is very deceptive. Looks like a nice easy par happy little 9 hole by the side of the road, but not so! This course kicked my butt, (only one par all night) ate two of my discs (hole # 5, and hole # 7), and almost ate another on # 7. I would play it again - hopefully with some idea of the course, I could drop a few strokes. Bring some beat up discs to throw over the water. # 5 to me is the signature hole on this course, thrrowing over the pond to a "peninsula". Overthrow, underthrow or go left, and your disc is lost. # 6 is pretty cool also, going over the pond and then over another little pond (or marsh) on the far side. If you're looking for a challenging 9 hole - this is it

Challenging Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 1, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Lots of excellent and challenging shot options with a very nice layout for a 9 hole course. Good course to play if you don't have a whole afternoon to devote to playing.

Cons:

Longer tee pads and no other tee box options. The park is a little difficult to find if you do not know the area real well. The park is also busy with runners and dogs are nice days.

Other Thoughts:

The city just approved a pedestrian bridge to be built on Taft/117 to provide better access to the park.

Tee signs are down on most holes.

Be Careful 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 2, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Course is a great challenge for being a 9 hole course. A great variety of shots that will keep you on your toes the entire time you play. Well kept and beautiful park. Nice signs and small pads. Some of the most unique and amazing shots I have seen.

Cons:

Theres a large chance that you will lose a disc when you play this course. Your throwing at or around creeks or ponds on every hole except for 8 and 9.

Other Thoughts:

BRING A FLOATING DISC. You will play some very challenging holes including ones that have you throw over 2 ponds and onto an island in the pond. Be prepared to lose a disc as well if you throw it into the creek. An amazing course that will require patience and skill.
