Tight Quarters 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 9, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

It's nice that their's 12 holes instead of the typical 9 holes that you find in a small park course. Surprisingly long holes for such a small park. Nice new Innova baskets and solid concrete tees. Very nicely marked and easy to find and easy to follow course.

Cons:

Sandwiched in the park between a lot of trees, playground equipment, shelters, small parking lot, and a lot of people. Very easy to throw a bad throw and piss somebody off. I hit a shelter on hole 8 but luckily it was empty.

Other Thoughts:

Great course if your in Buffalo or any of the surrounding suburbs and you don't want to drive too far to throw some disc.

Fun parky park 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 20, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Concrete tees.
Easy to navigate.
Signs have distances and "pars" posted and are big, so easy to spot from the previous basket.
Large well made map at the beginning of the course near parking lot.
All reasonable golf lines and well manicured.
Clean and in a friendly area.

Cons:

It's flat, but I don't expect a course to overcome something like that.
It's a very public park with some walking paths and a parking lot that might be hazardous depending who is playing the course. All very visible, so as long as you are playing with respect to others, it's not a big deal. Just don't want to see people getting needlessly injured.
I don't like that they have "Am" pars posted. Just my personal opinion though.

Other Thoughts:

This is a course that gets people interested in disc golf I think. Not too hard, but not punishing. Gives people an idea of what to expect from the sport.

I enjoyed playing here and it was a quick run though. Was during the middle of the day, so I didn't see many other players, but could tell that it was a well loved park in the community.

If you are looking for a warm up, a quick bag, or live in the area, it's worth the spin.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 24, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

- Best short course in the Tonawanda area. Unlike the other short courses, this one will use more of your bag and different lines.
- Nice new concrete tee pads.
- Adequate signage for hole #, distance, and par.
- There are some real golf lines to hit here if you want your 2. This is very nice to see for a short course.
- Bathrooms on site.
- Ample parking.

Cons:

- 12 holes are just weird.
- Some safety concerns throughout. A few fairways playing very close to each other. A few shots very close to well used sidewalks, swings, and other playground equipment.
- There were some very wet spots with mud and even large puddles of standing water that look like they have been that way for a long time.

Other Thoughts:

Par is quite generous and inconsistent. I can see the generous pars as this is across the street from a school, but it some are weird. Par 3 250' followed by Par 5 340' with similar lines required. Treat it as all 3s and you are good.

A nice starter course 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 25, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

- New course in quiet neighborhood which may help generate more interest for the sport.
- Short course, both in length of holes (holes average about 300ft) and the number of holes (12), allow most players to get in a round quickly
- Very generous pars on the course. Par 5 on a 350ft hole? Now that is generous. I consider the entire course to be a par 3.
- Concrete tee pads (as of 8/18/14)

Cons:

- Lincoln park can be quite busy on weekends and several of the holes play near shelters and/or playgrounds which can be a bit of a hazard.
- Only 12 holes. What an unusual number for a course. I typically will play 2 rounds as a result.

Other Thoughts:

I love having a course so near my house. This will be a boon (hopefully) for bettering my play.

There are trees in play on the entire course and you will have to be careful on most throw to either thread small gaps or shape your throws around them. This course will reward accuracy more than distance on your drives.

Holes 4, 5 and 6 play side-by-side-by-side. You will have to be careful if others are playing as your throws may easily encroach on the other 2 holes.

It would be great if they put in some tee pads (edit. as of 8/18/14 the town HAS installed concrete tee pads). There are sign posts and for each tee but it doesn't say where the tee is. The ground is already getting flattened on one side or the other next to the tee signs but it isn't consistent. Some times it's on the right side of the post, other times it is on the left.
All baskets are new Discatcher baskets. They are not my favorite, but that is just my personal preference and opinion.
Kudos to the Town of Tonawanda Recreation Department for installing the course.
