Good Recreational Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 22, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Good Concrete Tee Pads
- Good lines, need to be reasonably accurate between trees
- Good course to practice on and also good to introduce new players to the game in a good park setting
- Quiet this time of year, although I am sure the park is much busier in season.
- Disc Catcher baskets

Cons:

- Some ice in spots, although this is not really a con since it is middle of winter
- I imagine the park is very busy in season, so I would time my visits early in the day or later in evening

Other Thoughts:

I took my dog to the park on a sunny winters day and played the first 7 holes back to the parking lot. The course exceeded my expectations in regards to the types of shots needed. Given that this is a recreational course, not championship caliber, I was pleasantly surprised with my experience.

Lincoln Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 21, 2014 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

--Best short course in the Tonawandas
--Tees well marked
--Becomes more challenging when trees are in leaf

Cons:

--Holes are crowded together
--Poor drainage/frequent swamping
--Too close to picnic amenities
--Holes are short (but not as short as Payne or Veterans')

Other Thoughts:

Although this is no one's idea of a tournament course, it's significantly better than the other two town-park type courses in the Tonawandas. Signage is good, baskets are good, some thought went into pin placement. Par allowances are ridiculously lenient; other posters are correct in saying that all holes should be 3's. Although picnic shelters and playground equipment do impinge on fairways, Park is not -that- crowded, especially in spring and fall; I've played five afternoons in April and May and found literally no one using this section of the park.

Although the holes are not super-long, they will for most players require a drive in earnest off the tee, unlike Pinewoods, Veterans', or Payne.

Significantly more skill is demanded in later spring and summer when branches hang lower and take up more airspace.
