Open But Fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 9, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Its got a good mix of long holes and short holes. The water is a good hazard on two holes. Well kept and has pretty good flow.

Cons:

Its very open and can be tough if windy out. It can get pretty buzy some times too. Shakopee could use another course.

Other Thoughts:

I like this course and will continue to play it

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 16, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

There are multiple tees on most holes, which is always a plus. There is a good amount of length on a few holes, with some shorter holes.
There are some trees for obstacles, but not many. A pond comes into play on 2 holes which is a much greater obstacle.
Not too much elevation change, there's one hole on top of a funny looking hill, but other than that it's pretty flat.
All in all a mostly open course that's good for beginners but is difficult for more advanced players if it is windy.

Cons:

Not a whole lot of variety. Every hole is almost entirely open with very little to make you choose your path. A few pine trees are the worst of the hazards.
It was super windy, at least when I was there. I guess this could be viewed as a con or as a pro depending on if you wanted the challenge or not.
Some of the tees are a little tricky to find, especially a few of the long tees.

Nice Open Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 20, 2008 Played the course:once

Pros:

-You can throw far on about half of the holes.
-Hole 13 is from top of man-made hill.
-Great beginner course.
-Very clean, well maintained course.
-Nice cement tee pads and nice baskets.
-Neatly mowed fairways
-Located near Man-made swimming lake with water slide. Also has picnic area.
-Easy to find.
-Uses water well to provide one of few challenges.
-Not too busy but you probably wont be the only ones there.

Cons:

-Pond can eat your discs on 2 holes.
-Not a lot of shot variety. May get boring after front 9.
-Not many obstacles to work around. A few trees on some holes.
-Other than 13 is very flat.

Other Thoughts:

Overall, its a decent course. Needs more variety in the way of trees or some other challenges.

A big arm's dream course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 1, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great opportunity to "unleash the hounds" and go for the monster drive with minimal risk for throws that go off your intended line.

This course is excellent for beginners and intermediate players that are looking to increase their confidence and distance off the tee boxes.

Cons:

Beware the wind! This course plays much harder in winds of 25mph+.

Bad shots go virtually un-penalized.

Other Thoughts:

Plant some trees or shrubs to create some more obstacles for experienced players.

Wide Open 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 19, 2008 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Dual concrete tees on most holes.

Good signs at short tees, some good signs at long tees.

Very little trash on course, has a few trash can scattered throughout the course.

Nice mix of distance. Some long holes where you can just reach back and throw, as well as some shorter holes to test your placement.

Cons:

Tee signs at long tees need some work. Some of the information on them has been removed or worn away.

This course is mostly open. There are some trees in the park, but most of them you are smaller trees that you can throw around. There are very few holes where you have to place a good tee shot, there is an opportunity for a good recovery shot on most holes (which could be a pro as well).

Very little elevation change. Hole 13 is the only hole with a significant change.

Other Thoughts:

There is a pond that comes into play on a few holes.

Playground, picnic shelter, restrooms, tennis courts, and pool on park grounds.

The park has been kept up very well by the city, and is very clean.
