That One on the Grassy Strip by the Mall

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 13, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Several actually. Good place to learn or practice your short game. Good place to get in a quick round. Fairly central location. Has enough Tee signage to figure it out pretty quickly. And it's an all grass course in a mostly desert city.

Cons:

BUT...gotta say there's not much to work with: it's just a narrow strip between a mall and a residential street. Nearly every shot is the same. Wide open, flat drive. Wide open flat putt. The course flows all the way out one side of the strip, then all the way back the other. Only the smallest league event could avoid constant shouts of FORE (but for casual play there are not enough others around to worry about.)

Other Thoughts:

A lot of 'Other Thoughts' don't really apply here. You can start anywhere. You don't need benches or port-a-pods...it's that quick. There's no 'strategy' or features to cite. It's your basic neighborhood practice course.

Beginner 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 17, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Easy course to follow. Good for beginners who are working on adding distance to their shots.

Cons:

Every shot on the course is almost exactly alike. Straight, flat, unobstructed. There is no technical skill in any of the holes. Even on the two holes that could have been a slight hook or dogleg, they placed the tee in an area that made it identical to all the other holes.

Other Thoughts:

Kudos for trying to make use of the narrow strip of land between the road and the wall to the rear mall parking lot. And the only course I've seen in Tucson yet that has actual grass and trees. Too bad none of the trees were used to make the holes interesting.
