Wonderful Neighborhood Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 24, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Very nice neighborhood course with a nice variety of tree types, mid-length holes, and a lazy crick that runs through it. Decent tees and tee signs. We'll maintained for the most part. The course is fairly scenic. The only chance for disc loss is to the water, but retrieval is pretty easy. The course uses the trees to force some shot shaping. The course is fun and a little more than a rec course

Cons:

Some might consider having only 12 holes a con but I appreciate them not trying to cram 18 holes into the limited space.

One or two tee signs were missing.

You may have to wait for randoms to pass by as folks shortcut through the park from one part of the neighborhood to another

Other Thoughts:

A nice neighborhood course that most disc golfers would love to have across the street from their house.

Hidden Gem in South GA 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 9, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

1) Really nice use of space. Yes, it's only 12 holes, but they fit in well without crowding into each other.

2) If you like a challenge, you'll find yourself tested with pins placed in creative spots (e.g., very close to a creek).

3) Water comes into play on many of the holes . . . some with pins near a creek's ledge. The creek(s) runs through and alongside many drive paths.

4) Great signs at the tee pads. And nice map near the first tee (SE corner of park).

Cons:

1) While the map at the beginning is great, finding the next tee can be a challenge. (The tee signs sometimes tell you where the next tee is, but once you hole out, you can get disoriented if it's too far away.)

2) There were a couple holes that came close to overlapping. For instance, I'd see the basket for 7 early on and when teeing off for 7, located the basket straight ahead . . . but it was 9 and 7 was further along.

3) Short tee pads.

4) No on-site facilities.

Other Thoughts:

I didn't get bothered by the short tee pads, as I have almost no run-up. The 12 holes offer a lot of variety; if you need to play more, or feel cheated . . . just play it twice. I'd like this as my "home" course if I lived in Thomasville.

It's an open course that's lightly wooded. But many of those trees come into play and force you to shape your shot.

Well thought out course... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 1, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

1. Course map / overview on large board by tee #1
2. Solid tee boxes (not concrete, but still pretty good)
3. Good course signage with accurate distances
4. Great use of distance and existing obstacles including OB (Road) and the trees and creek which are constantly in play
5. Quality DISCatcher baskets
6. Adequate seating and trash receptacles

Cons:

1. Old "Rec 18" signs are still in the ground around the park making things confusing for first-timers
2. Only 12 holes (which is all that would fit...but still a slight drawback)
3. Tee boxes are a little bit short (If you like a run-up, you'll have to be careful)
4. No restrooms on site
5. Playground and pavilions in play for less accurate players (If you have to ask, it's probably you...)

Other Thoughts:

Overall this course is well thought out and well placed. It's a fun course that requires a number of different shots (though may not require every disc in your bag) and uses the natural obstacles to their fullest. The small creek is almost constantly in play, and the mild elevation changes make for subtle challenges. Most intermediate players will find this course challenging, but not frustrating. Pros may find it slightly lacking in technical difficulty, while beginners may find it a bit too challenging... If you're in the general area and want to play a fun course, you can't go wrong playing MacIntyre!
