Massacre Rocks - Short

Reviewed: Played on:May 28, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

This is a really nice warm up or cool down from the bigger more hike like course on the other side. Both courses have elevation even this one has it which is rare for a short nine hole course. The course isn't difficult and requires nothing more than a catch disc or putter but the throws are fun - even the uphill ones. As with the big course on site the basket locations are in great spots. Navigation is simple as pie with all of the next tee signs just like the larger course next door. Even from this course there are fantastic views to be had of the snake river, especially from the basket on hole 9. At the end of the round or beginning there is some cool history about Massacre Rocks and a gift shop right where you start/end the course and park. I played this and the larger course on site two days in a row on Memorial Day weekend and there weren't any other disc golfers on either course!

Cons:

It's not meant to be challenging and it isn't - like I said nothing more than a putter is required even on uphill holes. The ground is uneven similar to the big course on site so being cognizant of where you walk is a good idea. The signs and tee pads are showing their age at this point though the tee pads are still fine to throw on and the distance and what hole you're on are still visible for the most part all signs.

Other Thoughts:

I really like that this little course is here right next to the visitor center and campgrounds just off of the freeway. Very fun little course even if not for serious players.
