MCCS DGC is an introductory nine hole pole course located in Shelton, WA, and just minutes from their new pro level course, Shelton Springs. Located on the property of Mason County Christian School, this course plays along the grassy fields and throughout the surrounding forest. Elevation is present, with several up and downward shots alike. Pins are nicely tucked away, and often times guarded by trees and other local foliage. Each wooden pole is painted white up about where the basket usually is, to give players an idea as to where to putt. Also, each basket has a large blue number painted toward the top for easier navigation.

Holes range from just around 100 feet to about 250 feet, and are a mix of tightly wooded and open shots. The area is nicely manicured, with mowed lawns, trimmed bushes and trees, and beauty bark on the trails and around the pins in the forest. Signs are somewhat informative, giving the general location of the pin, and where some of the larger obstacles are located. There are also white mando and next tee arrows throughout which also helped with navigation and flow.

For what this course was intended for, beginners, it is perfect! The course is easy to follow, once tee one can be located, and is a nice mixture of open and wooded holes to allow first timers a sense of what this sport is about. For intermediate or more advanced players, it is a nice place to work on your short game and disc flight due to the courses nice use of elevation.

Tee pads could be improved, with a designated starting and stopping point, and a more leveled surface to throw off of. Currently, many of the tee pads have roots and an unlevel throwing surface, making footing difficult at times. The tee signs could also be improved by the addition of hole distance, allowing players to disc up or down depending on the situation.

Mason County Christian School is the perfect addition to the other two fantastic courses Shelton has to offer. As the other reviewers stated, this course is ideal for novice, Lake Isabella is perfect for intermediate, and Shelton Springs is geared more for the advanced and pro level players. MCDGC has really done a tremendous job introducing this sport to Shelton, and are great ambassadors for our sport!

It is really nice to see how the designers were able to get disc golf in to the school system in Shelton. This is a great sport for elementary and middle school kids to learn early on, and could eventually lead to a stronger following in the disc golf community.

The course starts out near the parking lot and is easy to follow and loops around back to the car. They even have some helpful and nicely done home made tee signs to help find you find the poles even though most can be seen with very little searching. The poles are nicely painted with a white section in the middle to hole out on and make spotting them easier as well. The course is nicely laid out using the surrounding trees, open soccer field and other obstacles and forces you to be able to throw different lines and creates for a good variety of different styles of holes to challenge your game at.

There are poles which is a con to most people. Natural tee pads that have little room to throw on and most have roots growing in the middle of them as well as trees very close to the tee pad which make you weary of following through on a shot with your arm. Most of the holes are pretty short with the exception of a couple of 250 footers.

This is an awesome school to be a kid with the land and cool activities here including a soccer field, basketball courts, playground equipment, exercise equipment, and even a zip line between the trees! The designers of this course did a good job as this course was much better than I expected it to be.
