A fun short course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 18, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Parking is really easy, and tee pad 1 is right at the parking lot so starting out is easy and with the excellent signage it was no problem to find my way around the course.

The poles are easily visible from almost all holes, and there is great arrows pointing to the holes on tees where they are not visible.

I love being able to take my 2 young children, letting them play on the playground equipment while I get a fun round in.

Cons:

The fairways can be a bit tight, and if you get off the fairways in the woods it can be difficult to find your disc, the rough is VERY rough.

The first hole plays next to the road, and the second hole plays near the parking lot, inadvertant discs could hit cars, not likely but if you are a wild thrower be careful.

Other Thoughts:

The course is a fun course, with the other courses in Shelton (Lake Isabella and Shelton Springs) they all have very long holes, so this is definitely the course I will take people I am teaching or beginners. It probably won't challenge experienced players (although it is great to practice your midrange game) it is perfect for what it is, a teaching course.

a perfect family-friendly course! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 28, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

The biggest "PRO" of this course must be viewed in scope of the greater Disc Golf scene in Mason County. Shelton Springs' "championship grade" course is in playable beta stage (MAY 2010) less than a mile away near the Huff N Puff. About 2 miles away, you'll find Lake Isabella State Park - a perfect "intermediate" level course. MCCS DGC rounds out the current local offering with a family-friendly, beginner-level course- a perfect place to introduce your friends to this sport!

This course sits on a nice school campus in a quiet community in Shelton.

It makes good use of the whole campus and the available terrain, including elevation changes, forest, and open fields.

While the course is short in length, there are clever pin positions to make your shots interesting.

There is a playground, a sandpit, a covered shed play area, and a large grassy field available.

Cons:

This course is short in terms of competitive length for players with a big arm. (It was designed mostly for elementary and middle school students!)

poles, not baskets.
teepads are natural.

Other Thoughts:

Mason County Christian School (MCCS) has a 9-hole pole-hole Disc Golf Course to be used primarily by students of the school.

It's a great course for beginners and families of Disc Golfers because there is a playground, sand pit, covered shed play area, and large grassy field on location.

They are happy to allow guests to play the course on weekends, school breaks, and holidays when school is not in session.

Please clean up litter and respect their facility. No drugs, alcohol, or smoking is permitted on campus.
