Um...how is this course layout supposed to work 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 22, 2018 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Well of course the views.
If no events going on you've pretty much got the place to yourself.
Mendocino downtown within walking distance for a sandwich to enjoy during your round or in between rounds.
Fun shots next to the Cypress trees (mando splitting the football goal posts for 18)

Cons:

Except for one basket, the baskets are really and I mean really old.
Inconsistent map/hole lengths
poor signage/tees

Other Thoughts:

I'm from out of town and was checking the three courses in the area. This place actually made me want to come back and tackle it again after lunch. In the first round, I was trying to play it with pictures I took of the course map and working with others who happened to show up and were as confused as I was. On my second round (it's not a large course) I had a much better idea and played the last half with a local shoe cobbler (thanks Steve, I believe that was his name).
Some of the posts stating where to go next were inaccurate in relation to the map, and so covered with moss that I used to a flat head screw driver to re-etch out the direction and numbers (tried to help where I could, please don't get to mad at me locals I was only trying to help) lol.
I'd return. Worth checking out if you can figure it out.

Fun if you are in the area 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 29, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

As noted by others, this is a scenic course in a beautiful part of California.
*Map at course
*Signs for almost every hole
*Easy to follow layout, with a mix of right and left holes
*Not crowded

Cons:

Unfortunately there are only 12 baskets, so you play back to some of the same holes, but usually in a different direction, so what was a hyzer shot is now anhyzer from the second tee.

Some of the baskets are close to each other, which can make it confusing, so have a map with you to avoid shooting to the wrong hole.

Other Thoughts:

I enjoyed this course. It would have been rated higher except 5 of the holes are so short you can drive with a putter. But some of the longer holes are challenging, and it is fun trying to penetrate the wall of cypress trees that separates the soccer field from the football field.
