Hole 1 is a really nice, easy first hole. I use my 4S Wizard off the tee, other recommendations I have are using either a Buzzz or a Roc and just finesse the disc into the circle for an easy birdie.

Hole 2 Has a pretty tricky tee off at a moderate uphill angle. The basket is pretty straight off from the tee and just to the right of the fairway. I recommend a hyzer flip with a Buzzz or a Metor. Give it a fair amount of snap so it slides out right as it drops.

Hole 3 Is the first longer hole good for a stable fairway driver like a Teebird or a Stalker. Its an easy par for most rec players.

Hole 4 is a great ace run hole. Its all about placement of your shot when it comes to this hole.

Hole 5 is one of the trickier holes. I spike Hyzer this with an over stable mid like a hornet. Be careful of the stream just past the pin.

Hole 6 is an awesome uphill anhyzer shot. I grab my Buzzz here and just arc it out nice and high and give it some juice. Fore-handing works just as well on this hole.

Hole 7 is a really technical downhill shot with the basket off to the right. The best option is to grab something stable and forehand it.

Hole 8 is the signature hole. Shot placement is key and being proficient with your mids. I used a Roc for every shot on this hole simply because they land flat and don't really skip around too often. Stay within your playing ability and don't over think this one.

Hole 9 is a nice hole to catch your breath on with a nice gradual uphill shot. Perfect for a Buzzz.

Hole 10 is somewhat deceptive. If you are going for the ace, the best route is take the path on the left side of the big tree. I recommend only using putters on this hole because overshooting it is devastating.

Hole 11 is all awesome for both forehand and anhyzers. Use a nice stable mid whichever way you want to go about playing this hole, just don't overshoot it.

Hole 12 is an awesome way to finish out the course, nice longer hole that has plenty of different obstacles. You generally want to stay tight to the right side off of the tee and once it opens up you can really let loose.

This is a very challenging course that has plenty of elevation change and lots of really creative shots. You will use every disc in your bag in most cases which I love doing.

Sandy, really sandy. My new shoes were covered in dust after and it just felt nasty. My other issue is that there are no really wide open holes to bust out a big drive.

The only thing I would really like to see is some manicuring, maybe put in some mulch and some more stairs. Also, this is the only course I have seen with astro turf, so thats kinda cool. All in all, a super fun, challenging course.

- every hole is short, but a random 8 hole that is 600ft

- the stairs to some holes are HALF filled with leaves, no point in using them becasuse it's easier to walk on the slope
- cant tell where you are throwing to because most of the time you cant see the basket and there is no signs or markers
- worst place to start out disc golfing as beginners will find it very tough and not fun especially when you keep throwing it in the creek

maybe if this course was pay to play, it could improve alot, but until then im not coming back. Should'nt even have to pay to get signs and other stuff.

And to the 4 people who marked this as unhelpful, this course really is poor, i would rather take a risk getting shot in brooklyn park playing disc golf than going back to plymouth creek to go for a swim

The course plays through a small wooded park. A couple holes bring some water into play, adding a little risk. Hole 8 plays 600' along a creek, every shot offers the tradeoff of going for distance and risking ending up in the water. The rest of the course is short, but minor hills and dense trees keep things interesting. There is a good mix of left and right turning shots, with enough trees to offer some punishment for errant shots. The concrete tees are in decent shape, and the baskets are ok. The signage is basic but plenty informative, and the course flow is intuitive with no navigation issues.

The course seems to get a ton of traffic, and it's taken it's toll. The fairways (other than the astroturf on 1 and 2) are very compacted, and the hilly areas are suffering some erosion issues. I really liked the long hole along the creek, but it felt very odd in combination with all the short holes. I would have liked a bit more length variety between the extremes. There was a lot of trash including broken bottles when I played, and locals said that was a pretty usual state of affairs, always unfortunate when that element of the disc golf population takes over.

I was happy to see a fun 12 hole course rather than a cramped 18 holer on this piece of land. Beginners will have a blast here, with very short short tees and mostly rec friendly long tees, combined with only limited punishment for missing your line. More experienced players aren't going to really be tested outside of hole 8, but it is a fun place to shape some putter and mid lines if you're willing to brave the crowds.

-All holes have a cement tee.
-90% in the shade, great for hot sunny summer days.
-Actual danger holes.
-Water fountain at 'Warming Hut'.
-Benches and garbage's all around.
-(Update, they added new rocks and touched up some holes as of this summer[2011])

-Expect kids fooling around in the afternoon, and adults that SERIOUSLY take there time in the early afternoon. (Annoying Traffic)
-Parking shared by multiple soccer and baseball fields.
-Stupid teens destroy everything, from the fun of the game, to physical things like the trees, and leaving litter everywhere... some of the tee's even got stolen a five'ish years back.
-If you haven't been here in awhile, look before you throw, they changed the tee locations.
-Kids toss their trash anywhere they please, and the trash bins are emptied infrequently.
-All the low level plant life is gone, making some of the tee-to-hole play hard for anyone new to the course.
-Depending on the weeks weather, the course can be unplayable; flooded, muddy, freakishly buggy.

Variety of throws. Nice to be in the woods. Not a course where you drive your disc every throw. Actual tees and nice baskets. Overall enjoyable course that I play at least twice a week

Do not come here within 3 days after a storm as the stream's water level will raise and carry your disc downstream, Hole 3 will have a pond around it that you can't see until after you tee off, Hole 5 will be in the stream, the tee for Hole 9 will be under water, and Hole 8 becomes much more enjoyable if any of your discs fade to the left as they will end up in the creek. Lots of stoners and drinking. Busy during afternoon after 3pm.

Definitely a course worth the drive. The only real problem is after it rains a lot it becomes a lot less enjoyable. Holes 2, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 11 could use an anhyzer shot.

Starting with #1 throwing the hyser shot around the corner, across the little water hazard and to a green, ARTIFICAL GRASS GREEN. This is the first I've seen on a disc golf course. And then artifical grass starting off the first 100 feet or more of the second fairway. I thought the whole course was going to covered. But I found out otherwise and saw why. This is a major high impact course with lots of traffic. There are two pads for each hole. The pads for the longs (cough, cough, longs??????) are really extra long and nice concrete pads. I've seen so many pro-calibier courses which could use these pads. The short tees are a little smaller than standard. From the shorts, this plays as a Pitch & Putt. From the longs, it's a great Intermediate course. Many tee signs were missing. #'s 5, 10 and 11 were all fun little ACE runs. # 8 is pretty much a killer hole at 600' with the creek in play on your left side all the way. It could easily blow your round up.

I squeezed in a round just before dark and the course was still filled with players. I could imagine what it would be like at primetime.

I'd be mostly concerned with enviromental issues mainly ground compaction and erosion issues. I hope the disc golf community is willing to work with government agencies. The indoor/outdoor carpet is a good start.

This is truly a nice little course. 12 good holes is better than 18 holes squeezed in. That doesn't bother me a bit. What does bother me is the fact that the Parks Department has to put up a sign specifically aimed at the disc golfers pleading with them to stop abusing drugs, alcohol and to quit littering on this course. Players, you have to take some ownership here. Pack your litter out! Don't hesitate to pick something up and carry it to the nearest can. This course is a treasure that you don't want to lose.

This course is extremely enjoyable. Every hole has something different about it in comparison to the others. Pin placements allow for natural trees to test ones ability.

On really hot days this is a great course to play as most of the holes have a canopy from the trees.

Only one con I could imagine would be bugs at times of the season.

12 holes

Water on a few holes, but wouldn't stop a discer from retrieving it with a stick or even getting in the shallow water.

1) The design of this course is absolutely top notch . . . it is clear Timmy Gill knows what he is doing up in the Twin Cities because I have now played almost all of the course in the metro area and this is by far the most progressive dis golf scene I have ever seen in my cross country travels. I look forward to my effort to have this sort of impact on the SE WI scene.

2) Awesome variety on this course both in terrain as well as the obstacles.

3) Challenge is ever present even though there are duecable holes.

4) Lots of different lines needed to play well on this course.

5) Artificial turf is used on the #1 green, as well as the first 150' of the second fairway. I have only seen that in a couple places and that certainly takes away the erosion impact of the course on the environment.

6) The wooded holes are fairly clean . . . not a lot of dead wood laying around, minimal garbage on the course . . . just overall a well maintained wooded section of the course . . . at least in comparison to some I have seen.

7) Signs on most holes have Par, Hole #, Distance, and Par. Diagrams are minimal but they are present to show direction of hole basically.

8) Benches, picnic tables in a couple spots, and garbage cans are a nice tough to a course I assume gets a lot of play . . .

9) Lots of directionals on this course to move you to the next tee.

10) Infrastructure is pretty solid with decent bridges, timber stairs, astroturf, etc etc etc . . . something you rarely see on disc golf courses.

11) Wooded emphasis along with one prarietype holes (although it was unmowed), and a water shot or two . . .my type of course.

12) Dual conrete tees are always appreciated and these were in good shape.

13) Hole #8 is quite possibly the most sadistic difficult hole I have ever played. It is a double dogless with a tight gap off the tee, a stream rolling by on the left with a hardpan fairway that will shoot all shots left towards the water. I would put this hole as quite possibly one of the best holes I have played. I took a 7 with a great upshot to park it along the creek and make the putt . . . if only they could do a little beach out in the stream like at Winthrop . . . but that would lead to more erosion and environmental impact.

1) Erosion, compaction, and other environmental impacts are pretty rough on this course.

2) Muddy after rain because there is absolutely no cover on the compacted fairways in the woods.

3) Large garbage cans will defintely keep enough garbage to keep the course clean as long as the players throw stuff away rather than on the ground.

4) Logs are used in multiple places to makr fairways or walkpaths between holes . . . I just love this minor detail of a course

5) I can tell this is one of the most played courses in the area. It is in the WE$T $IDE of town so I am sure there are a lot of disc golfing high schoolers. It would be busy most days but it was my second course on the day and I arrived by about 7:00 AM so I didnt have to deal with it, but I am sure it is an issue.

6) Dangerous in a couple spots like #7 throwing pretty near the #8 tee. Skips are always a possibility on this course because of the hard compacted soils.

This course is so close to a 4 it sickens me I cannot give it that rating. While the layout, the design, the holes, the variety, the challenge and even the fun factor are top notch . . . the maintenance and the serious environmental impacts the course is having on the creek and downstream areas has to be extreme. I know this isn't something most disc golfers will notice or pay attention too . . . or possibly even care about. I however, care about the sustainability of courses and not losing great courses because one tree hugger or environmentalist decides to raise a stink about the impact these courses have on the environment. That is why I want to be involved in disc golf course design, because I might be able to catch these things and design and install apporopriately to avoid this type of scenario. It won't always be avoidable, but measures can be taken to minimize the impact. I like what they did with the astroturf on #1 green and #2 fairway, but to really reduce the impact this course will have on the environment, astroturf should line a few hundred feet of the 700' monster #8. I won't preach any longer, but this is quite possibly one of the worst cases I have ever seen for the impact our game has on the environment.

all the leaves are turning colors and they've really done alot of work to hole 1 adding even more rock piles to block your perfect line.

alot of leaf litter on the forrest floor makes finding discs a slight challenge

This course should be a lot better than it is. I have yet to go a time without some group of TEN 16 year olds taking their time and insiting on not letting you play through. Also, the trash here is horrible and there have been some very cheap and ugly renovations made to the course as of recent. Basically, if you want an almost 100% woods course and a steady challenge (for begginners) this is worth driving to. If you hate rediculous water holes, loud cocky teenagers, garbage, and trees, this may be worth skipping over.

This a great course to work on you skill shots as the entire thing is played in the woods. Makes it great course to practice side arm and over hand shots.

The entire course is played in the woods. This never really allows you to step back and just let it rip.

Signs to let you know the par would be nice.

I like hazards, I want to be challenged with trees, water, etc. rather than just distance. If you don't, well...

The first hole looks pretty cool, with a tree perfectly situated to knock your disc right into the creek when you thought you had perfectly overthrown the water. (although it is now too short, good for shooting for aces, I guess) They've been doing landscaping on #1. Not sure why, but there are steps built in, now. (2011 update) But not where they really needed steps. It looks like they are terracing it for decoration. Rather odd.

And after that it is pretty much trees. Some nice variety for left or right and a few hidden pins. Not too many issues where a disc has a good chance to roll away from the pin, even though you might expect that from the hilly terrain.

Very much fun for technical players that are prepared to line up shots and use different discs. And AIM, heh!

The creek is fairly clean, so fetching errant discs is not horrible.

A couple of the tee pads are breaking away from ground erosion underneath and/or end with dropoffs. Makes running off them when throwing rather suicidal, so you should know how to stop.

If you don't like hazards like 7000 trees, then that would be a big con.

Much better in the current incarnation, which has been here many years. If you don't like the trees, just be glad it isn't like the original with high grasses challenging almost every hole. It took away discs and returned ticks as payment.

A good mix of long and short shots. Including a beast of an right curve on eight. It is good for people starting out to learn how to throw tight quarter shots, but not to intimidating

The area where number eight is at is very muddy and close to water the hole length of the 500 and some odd foot shot. Wood chips or some rocks wood help alot.

Great course. Super Challenging shots. Amazing to play before all the kids get out of high school. My first course and I still play it once a week to this day. Great on windy days too because the wooded nature keeps it relatively calm on the course. Super relaxing place on calm days.

High school kids with no respect for the course come there just to smoke weed and throw their trash wherever they want. Act like loud fools.

Last time I played after school was out the line for the start tee was 5 groups deep. I suggest parking right as you enter the park and walking in to start on a different hole.

This isn't a course to bring your young children. Constant loud swearing. Smoking. And drinking.

Recently they put down fake astro-turf on hole 1 by the pin and hole 2 by the fairway. It may help mud but god damn is it ugly.

When i started playing this course it was great any time of the day. Now I can't even bother to go before 3.

Don't forget to bring a towel for the water and mud.

Course is very technical almost plays like a game of chess. Its a very condensed course so playing it several times is easy to do. Requires you to use the full potential of several discs' to really benefit. Be sure to bring an anhyzer (most holes on this course will require your flight path to fade to the right)

Tooo many people, Too many trees, Too Muddy, Too small. (did I say too many people) there was a line of 3 groups waiting to Tee-Off when I left, and a group on every hole, But, this was at 1400 on a beautiful Sunday afternoon,so, Im sure it depends on when you play

You will not be able to rely on pure power of your throw and you will really need to rely on specific disk's to get the most out of your round. Bring a towel to wipe off your Disc in case it goes in the creek, course was pretty muddy in spots.

With a creek running through the middle of the course in coming into play on several of the holes this course at 12 holes is perfect for the land. They could've crammed 18 holes in here but instead they put in 12 quality well designed and challenging holes. Played through a mature forest with lots of elevation change. Fairways are generally tight and demand accuracy and placement over distance. The short holes are not easy as they have some of the hardest to navigate fairways.
Hole 8 could probably be considered the signature hole. Its about a 600ft dogleg right with the creek running along its left side. This hole can easily become a round killer.
Holes 1 and 10-12 have larger fairways were the trees dont come into play as much. 2-9 are all within the woods with tight fairways and trees to combat. Straight shots and anhyzers/forehands are a must to do well.

One of my favorite things about Twin Cities disc golf is that they dont try to jam in as many holes as they can. Quality over quantity seems to be their motto.
All from Pro tees:
#1 - A straight shot over the creek that is fairly open with a large tree to the right. Basket is slightly downhill and has woods along the leftside of the green.
#2 - A slight anhyzer shot over a small hill and then back down the otherside. Fairway slowly tightens up as you progress into the woods. The basket is protected by seveal thin trees. Knock downs are common.
#3 - A straight shot into the woods. The fairway tightens down quickly and the ceiling drops about halfway down into a tunnel shot. The green is lined with with trees.
#4 - A short hole threw a very tight straight fairway. I'd say its like 3-5' wide at one point. The trees are very unforgiving. The basket is ever -so-slightly uphill. Along the right side of the basket the hill dips down and rolls can be common.
#5 - Is a short hyzer thru a tight fairway with many trees protecting the route to the basket. A gentle skip shot seems to work best. About 5' behind the basket is the creek.
#6 - Is a uphill slight anhyzer. The fairway is lined with trees on both sides. The right side is fairly tight. The green is open and on a slight pitch.
#7 - Is a tight downhill through a mess of trees. The fairway is kind of a J-shape but there is some "lucky" routes that give you a straight run. Basket is surrounded by several trees. (favorite)
#8 - This is the signature hole. The creek runs along the whole left side. The best way to describe this fairway for the 600' beast is an "s" shape that leads into a dogleg right. Trees line the length of the fairway. After the dogleg the leftside opens up. From the tee the fairway drops down and then raises back up about halfway . The fairway is pitched towards the creek. (best designed)
#9 - Is a straight shot up the hill thru a 15' wide gap about halfway. The basket is protected by a few large trees.
#10 - Is a short shot across the draw leading to the creek. One large tree directly in front of the basket is really the only contention. The right side is wide open and the left side is lined with trees.
#11 - A gentle anhyzer on top of a small domey hill. Fairway is surrounded with trees but none that really prove a factor. Waht you would call an open hole in the woods.
#12 - A long straight shot down a fairway that gradually opens up. The leftside is lined with trees and just past the thin line of trees is the creek. Along the right there are a few trees that can knock down your throw if you flex it too much. The basket is protected by 2 random mounds of dirt ( i assume the leftovers from the rest of the park construction) . A low shot is bound to hit one of the mounds. Directly behind the basket is some thick rough in the woods.

The course is a nice wooded course with several 'average' length shots with several tees having multiple tees.

Every hole offers a couple of different lines to the basket while offering s risk versus reward on the long # 8 hole.

The course keeps you in the shade of the trees most of the round, which is nice, a hot summer's day.

It's a friendly design for newer players and for kids (other than the monster #8).

The biggest cons on this course is the lack of signage. Looks that most of the signs have been the victim of vandals...which is too bad.

The other con is the amount of trash littered throughout the course. There are some trash cans through the park but also a lot of trash...and it would be nice if the park and rec along with the players would do a better jobs of keeping it clean.

I'd like to the see the park and rec in Plymouth update the course it new signs and add an additional 6 holes to make the course an 18 hole course.

This is a course I like to get a round in at while visiting my family. I only travel to Minnesota about once every 18 to 24 months and have always enjoyed playing Plymouth Creek.

Nice mix of wooded shots with different flight paths. Some elavation and the water is a fun hazard. Hole #8 was the first Par 5 in the metro I have heard. Love the beast of a hole.

This course used to be alot better. The punks out there have broken too many trees and branches. The water can be very much a hazard after a rain. Litter is BIG problem unless the awesome locals have been out before your round. Help em out and trash up!

This course is a flashback to where our sport came from. Small chunk of woods, carved out in a nice city park. Love it, but its also the demise of fun, free, overcrowded Frolf courses. Long live PC!

Really enjoy this course, nice challenge, lots of trees, in strategic spots, uses a lot of different shots, hole 8 is fun but hard.

Lots of garbage at spots, creek is nasty, smells pretty bad at times. can be very busy.

Worth playing if you are nearby, not sure it is worth a long drive to play.

Challenging course. There are a ton of trees here and hole 8 is a beast! (600+ ft dogleg right throught trees with the creek on your left)

Very woody. You are pretty much in the woods the whole time. It's a cool setting!

Water is a factor on several holes.

You will probably have to use some shots you may not use often. I throw a lot of thumbers here to get up over stuff and through really tight trees. Rollers might work well here, but beware of the water.

Signage is very good. It might take a little searching/asking your first time through, but there are signs pointing to the long and short tees. Most teeboxes have signs showing the distance and the direction towards the basket. Very nice.

Dual concrete teeboxes and the baskets are nice.

Not much litter here. There are garbage cans and bags hung up near pretty much every hole. Much appreciated.

Quite a bit of elevation change. There are some nice downhill and uphill shots and decent elevation change throughout.

Trees can pretty much kill your round. I could see people getting frustrated here.

The creek can also be a bear. I swear my discs love to roll here, and right toward the creek.

Seems to get pretty busy during prime time.

You could easily lose a disc in the creek, or possibly in the woods.

This is a challenging course, but anyone should enjoy themselves here, as long as you don't mind hitting some trees during your hike through the woods.

The "floor" of the woods, for the most part, is dirt, so you can pretty easily see where your disc ended up. I guess this is mainly due to all the trees blocking the sunlight.

It's laid out well and has good signage, which should help the first-timer. I went solo and figured it out with no problems. (that's saying something..)

Definitely recommended if you're looking for a challenging alternative to more wide open courses!
