Very Good Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 2, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Im a little bias b/c its my home course, but I love this course. The park is always clean and usually well manicured. and the other park activities dont often interfere with DG.

Cons:

some of the tee or basket placements mite have you scratching your head a bit.

Other Thoughts:

the areas around all the tees are very well kept and not mudpits like at some courses. losing discs shouldnt be a problem as long as you pay attention

Beautiful 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 6, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Absolutely beautiful course that is very well maintained by Olathe Parks & Rec.
The mature trees that line each hole have a mixed variety of deciduous and coniferous and really challenge your accuracy.

Course has a practice putting area just North of the restrooms.

Pins are rotated frequently which is a big bonus compared to other local area courses which may not rotate much or at all. It gives the course a nice change for the frequent player.

Hole 12 basket is located in a very protected tree grove on all basket locations except 1. I have found it impossible to get within 50' of the basket yet. I would recommend staying tight to the tree-line on the right hand side and approach the basket from the right side. The left side has a 5' wide by 30 trail to sneak through.

Great water hole @ 15. I'm guessing approximately 150 feet to clear the water and about 225 feet to the fairway. only hole where the water really comes into play.

Has a nice putting area next to restrooms.

Cons:

Some odd pin placement behind trees which quite frankly in many cases just added one stroke to my score each time because I personally did not have an undestable disc this time around.

Course can be somewhat difficult to follow for first time players since no map is yet available. Each tee is marked with a black steel sign and takes just a little while to find on some holes.

Hole 16 to 17 requires a walk back across the soccer field and parking lot.

Other Thoughts:

Nice concrete tees.
Has restroom at parking lot.
Moderately busy course.
Needs course map box at start.

not bad 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 17, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

well maintained, multiple pin placements that are moved frequently, trees help to remove beginners luck from several holes, not to crowded ever, clean restrooms.

Cons:

limited elevation change, some trees appear to be placed randomly in the middle of several long fairways, map is required to go past hole 12 the first time, hole 2 and hole 4 share a pin placement at different times which is poor planning, especially when the pin to 2 is behind a tree and pin 4 is where pin 2 was a week earlier,

Other Thoughts:

this is a good course to play, but there are others in the kc metro area that I would play first.

2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 9, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Lots of pine tree that really make you find good lines to get around them. Multiple pin placements that are changed frequently. Can have a good mixture of short/moderately holes and some far ones.

Cons:

Some of the holes aren't that interesting. Some setups can be very short and thus make the course much easier.

Other Thoughts:

Absolutely worth playing, even if you don't love it.
