Smiling Devil Emoji 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 24, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

-not 18 holes
-great course to burn calories
-concrete tee pads
-markers with hole number at tee pad
-a few of the baskets have long metal poles sticking high up to make seeing them easier
-looked like multiple pin positions on some of the holes
-map by hole 1
-nice views of Provo and all the way out to Utah Lake

Cons:

-I believe 8 of the 10 holes are blind from the tee pads
-no basket number on the baskets
-possibly of slipping and tumbling several feet down a canyon is present on most holes
-throwing your favorite discs is not an option (unless you have a tracking devise in it or a good spotter)
-no hole map or distances at the tee pads (pictures on this site are outdated)
-beginners, intermediate and advanced golfers probably won't enjoy this course

Other Thoughts:

WARNING #1 Despite being in a holy land full of beautiful church buildings and temples and some of the friendliest people you will ever meet, the Rock Canyon devil lives at this course and he wants to make you miserable.
WARNING #2 Do not play when it's 97 degrees (unless you are on vacation and are one of those hardcore crazy golfers who will do anything to check another course off your list)

Holes 1 and 2 start out ok, but after that it gets nasty. Brush and mid-size trees line the fairways (if you call walking paths fairways), baskets are in tough locations, and the possibility of losing your disc is real on every hole.
90 minutes in I was so glad to make it to hole 9 and see the basket from the tee pad way down below for this awesome way to finish up the course, but then my brother in law reminded me that it's 10 holes :( and the 10th is a huge downhill, but of course, it's so steep that you can't even watch your disc fly down towards the basket- just flick and hope.
It's a battle for disc golf survival out there. I wish you luck and more sense than me!

Diamond in the rough 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 29, 2010 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

This course is set at the bottom of Rock Canyon (hence the name). The setting is beautiful. The view of the mountains and the rest of Utah Valley is gorgeous. The course has a lot of elevation change for shots, and offers obstacles as well to challenge even the pros.

Cons:

The course is not well defined (I think everyone mentions this), but it is still playable. The big con is that the course is not very playable solo because you really need a spotter on many of the blind shots that are required. This course is in the mountains, there are many ups and downs and if you are not prepared for it, you will be in for a long game.

Other Thoughts:

Bring a good pair of shoes, lots of water, and a spotter, and you will have a good time. I especially like this course in the early evening with the cool mountain breeze.

Lost at Rock Canyon 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 2, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Uses hazards along with varying elevation changes to create a pretty challenging 9 holes.

All holes are manageable for birdie attempts, as long as you're throwing from the correct tee pad.

Great view of the Provo valley and Utah Lake.. and NO SIGN OF BYU FANS!!

Cons:

Lots of varying hazards, and like Solitude you can lose some discs up here if thrown in the wrong spots.

Needs to better mapped out on location. Too easy to get lost or head the wrong direction.

Other Thoughts:

Upgrade signs n maps for course ... clear out some of the unnecessary shrubbery, and create wider flatter paths.

Use TStack Map!
