1) Nice signs with Hole #, Distance, Par, and Map of the holes. The holes are also named based on their design.

2) Multiple basket locations on all holes including up to 4 baskets. The basket locations can really alter your shot on the hole too which means you can play multiple versions of this course on any given day. Each hole has good distance variation depending on which basket location is used.

3) Mach baskets with the number plates facing the tees which is always appreciated especially when multiple baskets are visible from some of the tees.

4) Benches are available in many places on the course which is appreciated. I imagine it is even more helpful during the hot and humid Georgia summer.

5) The tees are nice concrete tees and are plenty long for this course so you never have to worry about overrunning the end of the teepad.

6) Turf seems to be in decent shape, but there is a lot of red Georgia clay around so I can imagine your shoes and socks might be dirty or stained at the end of your round on occasion.

7) There are decent directionals on this course however with missing tee signs on many holes the directionals do not work quite as effectively as they could.

8) Park rules sign including notice that it is a drug free zone.

9) Nice variety of foliage density which really is a great design feature on this course. Some fairly open holes, some tight wooded holes, and some moderately wooded holes with trees to avoid or baskets tucked nicely to create some challenge.

10) Some garbage cans around the course to throw your trash away and the course seemed fairly clean.

1) Many signs seem to be missing or have some vandalism including black spray paint.

2) The course is obviously old or it gets a lot of play, while the turf is decent, the wooded holes could be muddy after a rain. They try to put some mulch down in spots but the course could use a little more of the mulch.

3) Blind baskets were tough on a first time travelling disc golfer like myself. DGA really should come up with a way to make their baskets more visible. Since so many of the holes are in the woods there were multiple times I had to search for which basket I was supposed to throw to.

4) Not enough of a beginner friendly course in my mind because it all depends on which basket locations are used.

5) The people walking in the park looked a little sketchy to me, but I played quickly and alone so I got back to my car in under 90 minutes.

Overall I was so happy my wife said I had time to play a second course after I had played JP Moseley as she was still enjoying her slumber. I was going to go to a different course but chose this one because it was the next best and fairly close to JP Moseley. This is just my type of course with the tight woods, but also because the design with the multiple baskets is cool. It's fun to see how each hole could play including the current basket location.

I had a lot of fun and I played quickly and felt like I shot pretty well. I put this right up there with all the other 4 disc courses I have played.

great open to woods course technical holes so you wont get bored its got wear on it but its a beautiful course TAKE someone you want to get to play more often here the scenery is neat and the holes are not too tough

Cement Tee pads are great, and very short holes make this course easier for beginners and players with little power. Many holes have some decent views in the woods. Only holes #16, and maybe #17 require a driver.

The first couple of holes are more open and very easy...then the course kinda turns into this very wooded short hole kind of course... To tell you the truth... It was annoying. I don't know if it was because it had just rained and the conditions were very muggy.. but..I'm not sure If I would drive out of my way to play this course. Some of the holes were so short and riddled with trees... it just made the course either unchallenging or too easy. Plus, some of the bridges were very unstable.. and lots of the holes were blind, with no signage... making this course difficult to navigate for first timers. If you are a more advanced player...this course will do nothing for you except work on your short game.

I visited Atlanta for a week and played this course and the one in East Roswell... and the course in East Roswell blows this course completely out of the water!

This was one Fun and Challenging Play! Yah walk out of your car, and Bam! There is launch one just waiting for you! The variences between the open feild to heavy wooded play makes for a very eclectic disk golfing experience. The lanes are a mix of different angles and approtches. Anywhere from solo play to a group of friends would be super fun on this course.
There are plenty of places to take a seat when yah need to. And the expansive wooded play offers a zen type quality to any afternoon.

I don't really have many cons about this course. I agree with TheJackalope about it being in A Ghetto-ished "hood". Hints the tittle to this particular review. Its hasn't seemed to effect much of anything though. The park is still in very managable condition.
Quite a few of the Hole signs are beyong recognition. So unless youe a seasoned "Redan Vet" figuring out the Goals can be a bit tricky.

I will be going back to Redan VERY SOON! From all of my Customers (I sell Discs in my shop), Redan is simply "the place to play". Consumer reviews are the most brutal, and I must say that after finally playing this course I would have to agree.

Great Layout, Picturesque Views, Wonderful Mix of Technical and Power Shots, Most of the course is in the woods, and that in no way sucks. The lanes are quick, the hazards are well thought out, The pin placement changes all summer, and the grass is almost always cut, and if not, it is only 4-5 inches. This course is well maintained, and well loved by it's regulars. Rosewood (colloquially called 'Redan' by those of us who go there) is an active PDGA sanctioned course with tournaments and merchants coming through a couple times a year.You will need all of your shots to play at Redan, and that is what makes it so great. Standard, Open Hand, and Tomahawk throws are all essential for this random Gem,

It's a crappy neighborhood. At least there has been no glass in the parkinglot the last 5 times I have gone. The rec center next door has made it to where cops are keeping their eye on the lot. It used to be REALLY sketchy, but it's pretty good now. NO WATER ANYWHERE, unless you want to drink from a stream, so bring water. ESSENTIAL.

I dont care about the cons. I put them there for truth's sake. I love Redan. It is sweet, and crisp, and breathtaking. The first shot is from the parking lot, through a lane of trees, down a hill, over a creek, and onto an open field. Daunting for a first timer, amazing for someone who knows how to chuck a disk. The rest of the holes are gentler, for the most part. This course rules. The only reason I am not giving it a '5' is because of the No Water thing. Other than that: If you are an avid golfer, or someone looking to learn, go to Redan. It's amazing.

Great, challenging course. Changing pin positions keep the course fresh. Great launch pads with brooms and trash cans for keeping them clean. Great mixture of sun and shade. Halfway point has great seating and shade for a break. Fair par.

This course is not in a great part of town, so lock your car and keep your insurance on it paid up.

This review contains a lot of bias. I played my first round ever at Redan, and saw no other parks for those first few years of playing. I consider it my favorite course and my home course.

The course plays through a mostly flat park with a couple minor elevation changes that are used well. A few holes play pretty open, but most of the course plays through tight woods with plenty of rough to punish errant shots. You'll need to shape accurate lines here, all the pin placements we played had fair lines but enough trees that it was easy to end up off the fairway.

The holes have good length variety from ace run shorties to several longer ones. There aren't really any bombers here, but you get to stretch your arm out a little. The pin setup we played had a nice mix of left and right turning holes that felt pretty balanced, if it's always like that then they do a good job mixing it up. I liked the variety of the different pin placements, they mixed things up quite a bit and really changed how most of the holes played. It sounds like they're rotated often, which makes it a great course to play on a regular basis.

A few tee signs were missing or vandalized. The remaining ones had the various pin placements, but had no method of indicating the current locations. Many of the holes are blind, and with moving pins it would seem even locals would have to walk up the fairway to know where to throw.

The course felt a little run down, with lots of trash and vandalism, and areas where brush was encroaching on the fairways. The baskets are older, and some don't catch all that well anymore, not a big deal to me but it is to some.

The variety here is great with all the pin placements, and many offer fun and challenging lines. This isn't a great beginner course with tough technical holes and thick punishing rough. More experienced players will find some nice tests of line shaping skills here, and will need to be accurate to score well.

I guess the neighborhood isn't the best, but we played right up until sunset and had no issues at all fwiw.

- Multiple pin placements that a regularly shifted by course managers. It's refreshing to walk onto the course and wonder where the pin placements are this week.
- Great mix of shot requirements which change both from hole-to-hole and on the same hole depending on pin placements (long, short, open, tightly wooded, hyzer, anny, etc.)
- Course design. One of the main things I've always liked about this course is how it starts mostly open (1-5) before going into the woods on 6. It gives the player some time to get loose before escalating the challenge.
- Picnic tables and benches throughout the course.
- Bathrooms in the fields above the course and in the boyscout building near the tennis courts entrance.
- Football field above 4 is rarely in use, so it can be used for fieldwork.

- Trash cans are almost always full/overflowing of beer cans
- Local residents sometimes randomly wandering the course
- County grounds crew destroying pin positions on early holes with the lawnmowers
- Basket visibility. You do have to walk down some of the fairways to determine where the pin is this week.
- Signage and some amenities in need of repair
- there is no disc line on the last 50ft of 12 when it is in the longest position. Great deal of luck required to get a good score in that configuration. Even thumber/tommy's are iffy.

- This course will always be home to me. I play here weekly(minimum) and never get tired of it.
- I keep finding myself comparing other courses to it, and think it's the most balanced course in Atlanta.
- It's an older course, so it may be considered short. The longest hole is ~500ft when 15 is in the long.
- Water is in play on the side of the fairway on 6, 7, 11, 12, 15, and 16. Also across the fairway when 5 is in the long position, however the hazard level is low in all cases. The creek is pretty small.
- Hole 1 has changed significantly in the past year since the county cleared out all the shule. The tight tunnel for the first drive is now much more open, and I think it improved the quality of the course layout.

Redan is a beautiful course which has huge variation in both wooded/open holes, shot selection off the tee, and in the ability to move pins to one of the sixty-five available placements. Several of the holes on this course offer multiple, exclusive fairways for players to select from - a feature that is nearly always a great indicator of a fun course. Solid concrete tees and well cleared fairways give the impression that the park is well cared for (although vandalism appears to be a bit of a problem.


Challenge: Redan is a course so diverse that, depending on pin placements of course, players who are both very new to veterans are going to find elements of appropriate challenge. While many of the holes are going to be challenging for beginners, there are a number of holes which they will be able to reach and the lack of thorns and thick brush on most holes prevents frustration on the harder holes. In some of the longer pin placements, even top professionals are going to have to step it up and thread tight fairways and throw long controlled drives to get the tougher birdies. On many of the more difficult holes, even very experienced players will find themselves in trouble on poorly thrown drives - often leaving low probability upshots or trickshots.

Replay-factor: As I mention in the title of this review, this is probably one of the best 'home-courses' in the nation. Players learning and practicing the game here are going to be exposed to a HUGE range of shots off the tee from extremely tight, twisting wooded fairways to wide open bombs. In addition, the multitude of pin placements are going to keep the course fresh after many (hundreds?) of rounds.

Depending on pin placements, many highly skilled players are going to find a few holes which are just too straightforward for their skill level. Navigation can also be a bit of a challenge, especially in the midsection of the course where several tees can be within pretty close proximity of eachother. Add this to some vandalized tee signs and it can make for a little backtracking on holes if you aren't careful.

We played this course on a weekday evening after hitting up several others during the day on a disc golf roadtrip. Even though it was getting pretty dark out, we never felt unsafe in this neighborhood, but if others have noted that theft from cars is a frequent problem, I'd probably believe them. Just don't leave any valuables in the open (duh!) and you should significantly reduce the chances of a break-in. Among the Atlanta area courses that we played on our trip, I enjoyed Redan the most, which is saying quite a bit considering the extremely high quality of many area courses (Roswell, Indian Creek, Wills). This is a course that all players are likely to enjoy including seasoned veteran tournament players, course-baggers, and even the newer player just starting out.

This place while not very close to much is a hidden gem in the middle of the hood!

*Great mix of elevation and hole placement
*Nice use of property, open and wooded areas
*Multiple lines on almost every hole for a good chance to try out different shots
*They have a somewhat functioning picnic area near the entrance/exit of the wooded section of the course.

In kind of a bad area, I have heard of multiple cars being broken into but have not had it happen to me

The hole maps located next to the tee pads need to be replaced as it looks like they have taken on some massive water damage

Course is somewhat difficult to follow if you have never been there before as the first time we played we thought we had played a whole 18 when it was only 10 holes.

No water access

Great place to play and if you want to get your grill on bring some food because the picnic area is a nice change of pace. You can actually pull your car down there and set up shop so you don't have to lug everything back and forth

Great course layout and mix of holes.

Multiple pin placements (2-3 out of 18 will get changed at a time once every other week or so.)

Have played at several times/days and there does not seem to be too much traffic on the course.

Close to Atlanta (although traffic can be bad but about the same as Roswell.)

TRAFFIC CAN BE BAD

Baskets are not in great condition but they are playable.

Poor signage. Many signs are damaged, missing, or barely legible. Getting from 7-8 might take awhile the first time without a map.

No close access to drinking water.

All things considered, I think this is the best of the Atlanta area courses.

I really like this course, most likely one of my favorite courses closest to downtown ATL.

Pros:
1) A good mix of open and treed holes.
2) Great sceanery around the park.
3) Hole 15 has to be the signature hole and is a wonderful long hole with a nice bit of shade.
4) Hole 18 is somewhat short. Everytime I've been there I've had a decent shot at birdie (although I've never made it... yet). I enjoy the last hole of this course for that reason. A fun short hole that you can honestly attempt a hole in one on.

1) Not to be mean but the neighborhood looks somewhat bad albiet I've never had a bad thing happen there.
2) They're either relandscaping some parts or they've put in new drainage or pipe or something because there is a decent amount of dug up ground which leaves shoes dirty

Covington Hwy during the week (and really on the weekends too but not as bad) is pretty miserable driving on to get here. I've been impressed with Redan Rd which I take immediately after I get on Covington from Memorial. My GPS took me this way and the bridge was out about 4 miles down three weeks ago. The bridge is now back up which gives you a striaght shot that is better than convington. Just my personal opinion.

**UPDATE**
Found out that they changed pin placements. First Tee shoots left now. Hole 3 shoots longer now and is next to the tree further back. Hole 13 shoots left (shoe leg right still but pin is left of the old placement in the woods). Those are the ones that stood out the most, but I would say that nearly half the course has new pin placements.

This is my first course to ever play on, and it remains my favorite. Hole locations are changed fairly regular and the holes are set up great. Challenging course and a lot of fun. Other course around it such a Lenora and Alexander Park are a little more open and less technical. I prefer the woods shots and technical game more.

As said before, the area isn't the best. However, I have never had a problem on the course. Everyone is nice and I haven't had any problems with break ins.

Great course, got me to love the game. I play there anytime i have a chance

Concrete pad are always a plus in my book. A few open holes but must are in the woods with some being really tight and others opening up in the woods. A nice mixture of hyzer and anhyzer holes. Multiple pin placement looks to change the course with each placement. There are some small hills that come into play on multiple holes.

Some of the signs are beat up others are missing. While there are multiple pin placements there is nothing to let you know which one the pin is in. There were some areas that were still holding water from the rains the week before I played though it was not too bad and a towel will be needed.

This course looks like it has seen better days. Though because of that there are many holes that will test your skills and allow for some risk vs reward shots. With the years this course has under it belt you can see there has been many years of additions which make this course a must play if you are in the area with time to kill.

A very fun Course that demands a variety of shots over many different types of holes. While the course is great that is all that is there for golfers, few benches and no water fountains. While I almost always see other disc golfers playing I don't really feel safe leaving my car in the parking lot.

Great course but park is not there for disc golfers and course and park are under Keep.

What a beautiful course! Isolated in its own area, except the views of the tennis courts and playing fields on a few holes, you'll find yourself in a dedicated disc golf area. It's a really well designed and fun course to play. As you get to the parking lot you notice a practice basket for a quick warm up. There is a picnic table under a large shade tree good for waiting for friends or a quick rest after a round. Hole one is close to the parking lot and leads you to the heart of the course where you'll discover navigation throughout the round will be quite easy. A small arrow on the bottom of the baskets pointing the way helps too. The multiple pin positions, up to three per hole, give this course multiple personalities. I think this course has some of the best possibilities as far as changing things when it comes to moving pins. I have seen lots of times where other courses have multiple pin locations but they just add distance or just make the hole more difficult by hiding the pin behind a bush. Not here, you really have to see it to appreciate the possibilities. The baskets are in great shape for their age and catch the discs nicely. Benches and trash cans are abundant and there are even a few picnic tables at a couple of holes. You'll appreciate the bridges that are scattered around and lead you from hole to the next tee where needed. The course is clean and well maintained including the mowed grass on the fairways.

Along with all the stated amenities the course itself stands on it's own. A great variety of shots are required, you'll use almost all of them. Long, short, slight to somewhat pronounced left and right, they're all here. Even a little luck will be welcomed a time or two. As a side note I enjoyed the nicknames for the holes, "fairway to heaven" for example on a beautiful fairway said it all. The course is predominately wooded with a few open holes peppered in for a change. Some of the wooded holes are tighter than others but shule, at least on the fairways, is non existent. You'll find it off the fairways but you have to get a pretty bad ricochet from a tree or really shank it to find yourself looking for a disc. The creek also comes into play here and there. It mainly runs beside the fairways on a shot or two with it running behind the basket a time or two as well.

The first thing I noticed was how difficult it was to spot the baskets in the wooded areas. Although the signs showed multiple pin placements it did not indicate which position they were in. Even if they did, it would still be hard to spot them but it would have helped. A walk up the fairway was required on at least half the holes. Even a few people who are well acquainted with the course had to take a walk to see what position they were in.

A nice pavilion, water fountains, and bathrooms would have been nice but the lack of them is certainly not a deal breaker.

The signs are older and are suffering from age and are a little faded at times. Thanks to the thugs that live in the community who mark there territory like animals, there is unfortunately some graffiti on the signs as well. Oh, and while we are on the subject of the vagrants, one must assume they are who is responsible for the break-ins and hold ups that you may have read about.

I will have to say, I felt quite safe when I played though. I was with a large group and we played on a Saturday while other players were present. On the flip side I don't see myself playing solo during the week. The course is just too isolated and to take a chance. But overall I feel like the risk might be a little over rated. Go with a group and you'll be fine. Bad experiences always get more press than good experiences.

I think this is one of Atlanta's finest layouts. (Among many other great ones as well) I also believe everyone of every skill level can have a great time out here. I wrestled with whether to rate this 3.5 or 4. I guess in my mind it is somewhere in between but for me it leans much closer to a four, especially when the fun factor is considered. Come out and see for yourself. I truly don't think you'll be disappointed. Give it try but most importantly, just enjoy!

Redan offers the player a lot of variety in his shot selection, and since each hole has multiple, distinct pin positions that are moved frequently by the locals, it's continually giving you fresh looks. Some of the shorter wooded holes present pitch-and-putt distances, while a couple of the more open holes have pin positions well over 400'. In the short positions, the course is accessible to the recreational game, while in the long positions, the course can make you work pretty hard for a par-3 round. Usually the baskets are set up with a rotating mixture of short and long pins.

It's not a densely wooded course, but there are plenty of trees and lots of shade, and the trees are often right in the middle of what would be the easy driving line. Many of the holes have multiple lines to the basket, so you don't have to play them the same way every time.

You'll be pleased to find benches and trash cans throughout the park. If I recall there was a place to sit down at every single tee box.

The secluded park setting is a pleasant place to play a round, and it is well maintained. Bridges cross the creeks at all the right places, there are songbirds in the trees, and the grass is well groomed. It's exactly the kind of environment I most like to play in, and it was certainly well designed.

I'm not the biggest fan of concrete tee pads, and Redan's pads are an example of why. While they are longer than you'll find at some courses, they're not quite long enough for me, and they're a couple of feet too narrow for my taste. This could be forgiven, but they also all have an unnerving ankle-snapper drop-off at the front edge. If they were a couple of feet wider and longer, I'd probably be comfortable with them. As they are, especially as slippery as they get when they're wet, they make me tense and have me wishing for natural or grit pads. I could also wish for multiple tee pads, since the multiple pin positions alone don't leave me any control over how much of a challenge I want to set for myself today.

I've heard many rumors about petty crime in the area. While I've never had any problems myself, and my car has never been bothered, I always head back to the parking lot wondering if today is my unlucky day. That's not the feeling you want to finish your round with.

The quality of the tee signs at Redan would be a pro on most courses I've played, but several of them have been vandalized, and none of them tells you which position the pin is actually in. If you don't take the time to walk up the fairway, most of the holes will have you throwing blind, since the baskets are usually either hidden by or camouflaged among the trees.

There is a LOT of schule just off the fairways at Redan, so it can be easy to lose discs there. When in doubt, don't throw your favorite disc, and play to the safe side of the fairway. There are multiple routes all over the course, so choose wisely.

You should probably ignore the posted par on the tee signs unless you're a beginner. The posted par may give you an impression of the relative difficulty of the holes, but with 21st century discs, this is a par-3 course all the way around.

Be careful not to confuse the #9 basket with the #18 basket. The holes play from opposite ends of an open space, directly towards each other, so it's possible to throw at the wrong one.

If you're confused about where the next hole is, look around for a sign. There should be enough "next tee" signs to guide you around. If you don't see a "next tee" sign, look for a bridge and a well worn footpath. The next tee is never vary far away.

Great park maintenance, beautifully mowed lawns even in the woods where applicable.
Very little trash, people were emptying the garbage as we played.
Lots of benches and makeshift seating to give you a chance to rest.
It has a pretty good mix of distances considering its age especially. With the pin location variety it can provide an even greater mix.
Course is very easy to follow, we did have one instance where we were lead astray but easily got back on course. Most holes have Nex-T signs if you look.
Multiple pin locations can change difficulty of course.

Bad neighborhood. Have heard bad things but never experienced them so take it with a grain of salt.
Single tee location so the only adjustment between pro and rec. players is for par.
No way to tell what position the basket is in without looking first.
Did not see any accessible bathrooms.
Some graffiti on course, hopefully this has since been cleaned up.

The first tee is pretty daunting, but very cool. It was really fun walking around and discovering each hole. Some really memorable holes and our daughter really loved playing by the creeks.
Note, while this place has gotten a bad rep online we saw nothing that made us concerned in the least. In fact, we had not read about any of this stuff prior and the place gave us no reason to feel worried...YMMV.

Using my new scoring system, this park rates a 70 out of 100. It is a beautifully maintained park but the lack of tee variety and adjustment for ability cost it a chance at 4 stars.

Really well worth visiting.

Redan was the first course I ever shot, that was over 15 years ago. Since then I have played 18 there no less than 200 times and while I personally have never be a victim of the reported crimes there, I have heard from other disc golfers there that these events have happened. This is a crying shame as Redan just might be the best course in the metro Atlanta area. From the 1st tee, which presents an elevated tee shot that must split the Y of a mature tree about 60 feet down the fairway, the course will constantly ask the golfer to draw and execute their lines with precision. 2,3 & 4 are open and reachable and allow you to garner a decent score before the course really begins to ask more of you. 6 and 7 are tight yet reachable wooded shots with tricky pin placements. All holes are distinct from on another and are marked with good signage.

This is a road trip course and ALL disc golfers in the Atlanta area are doing themselves a diservice if they don't shoot this course as often as they can. In light of both the area's established reputation for petty crime and recent posts just play smart, lock your car and go with at least 1 other person. I've traveled the country shooting various courses and while I've played one or two other courses that might have been better, Redan will always be home.

- Well planned holes with great shot variety.
- Multiple pin locations on each hole. There is a default location, apparently, but each time I've gone out there were one or two holes that were different
- Very unlikely to encounter non-golfers even on the open holes
- Excellent use of the property to arrange woods and open holes including right and left turning holes, tight fairways on a few and some challenging approaches.
- The woods are pretty and usually clean (not a dumping grounds or teen drinking party site as far as I could tell)
- Many holes provide multiple shot choices so it's a great course for learning. Anny, hyzer, BH and FH shots can all get a workout here.
- The houses backed up to the course (holes 5 and 15 mostly) are separated from the fairways by fencing. They are nicer looking houses too.
- The course is downright fun!
- Parking and a practice basket are right near hole 1. The parking is specifically for the course, so If you are looking at a baseball field, drive about 200 yards further

- Bathrooms are not close to the course
- The area surrounding the park isn't great, but the park is. One side of the park is an industrial area with auto salvage lots and construction companies. Granted, I wouldn't move to the area, but the park is worth the drive.
- Some vandalism is apparent.

- Older baskets, but they have inner chains (straight) and catch just fine.
- The people I have met and played with have all been friendly and helpful. Great locals!
