Sweet course! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 31, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Plenty of obstacles to get in the way here, from hanging jack fruit to coconut trees to the distraction of water buffalo at the neighbors house. Every hole has distance markers from the longs and shorts, and every tee has beginner tees as well which is something I've never seen, and usually sit right around that 50 foot distance. The course is well manicured, especially for a course that was practically a jungle before being trimmed down. All tees are marked with coconuts which is a nice touch. Nigel does a lot of work to spread disc golf around the island from having the local schools come out for free, to local radio advertising. Nigel even let me and my wife take a shower in his house and gave us a ride to the airport! The course plays in about 20 minutes so you have time to play through a few times and you can usually find a local or even Nigel to play the course with you if you'd like.

Cons:

The only downfall I would say is that the course hole average is probably about 170ft, which leaves for a lot of midrange shots or short driver shots. But when I visited in late May Nigel was in talks of expanding to one of his neighbors lots and possibly throwing in another 9!

Other Thoughts:

The course is a couple of miles from the main pier and a ways off the beaten path. It's run by Nigel, whose a great guy and a very welcoming guy. The course sits in the back of Nigels yard on about an acre and a half lot. Each hole is about 150 to 200 ft. I'm not going to go hole by hole here but 3 or 4 of the holes play down a fairway lined with palm trees usually 2 or 3 yards wide, 2 holes that play to a right handed hyzer and 3 holes that play right handed anhyzer. Course plays pretty easy as my wife actually tied the womens course record of +1 and I shot -3.
If you're on the island or even at a neighboring island I would recommend visiting as this is really the only (good) course in all of Thailand. I had a great time and will visit this course again if I've ever remotely close, keep up the good working spreading the disc golf Nigel!
