Southside - Trinidad 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 15, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

- Great location near I-25, and easy to find
- navigates pretty easily, and decent signage on all holes except #9
- nice scenic views
- tee pads make for an easy drive despite the hillside

Cons:

- not many benches or trash cans, no bag holders
- not a lot of shade available, plan accordingly
- lots of broken glass around the course/rocks can eat up discs
- on the short side

Other Thoughts:

I stopped by on my way to Denver - the course is really convenient for a quick 9 hole round when passing through - I don't think it took me a half hour to finish it. It also affords some nice views of the surrounding area plus if you're not from the area it might be interesting to play around cacti.

The course plays up, down, and all around a small outcrop. #1 takes you up, #2-#7 go down the other side and around, #8 takes you back up and #9 brings you back down the side you came up.

Despite having no trees there are numerous shrubs littering the course large enough to block your view of the basket. This is where your finesse comes into play. If the course had some mando's it'd probably knock it up a notch on the difficulty level, because it could be argued on a few holes that a real high hyzer is all you need to get you in putting range. That being said if I lived in Trinidad I'd be pretty happy with the course, especially knowing there's another nearby in Raton. If you're like me - just passing through - and have an hour to kill, maybe want to stretch your legs, than it's definitely worth the stop as Trinidad itself is a nice town.
