Pros:

This mountain course is set in one of the most beautiful places. It is a true mountain course with an excellent design for a ski area. Tee pads were leveled and had carpet pads to help keep them consistent to some extent. The baskets were relative new and in very good condition. There is a bunch of elevation change and very few holes that felt the same as another hole. Tee signs were nice. The flow of the course was good and fairly easy to follow with a map. There are plenty of amenities at the start of the course. This course is a work of love by one of the consistent locals in the disc golf scene. A lot of work has been put into this course to make it look as good as it is. The fairways were mowed. The design was done so well that lots of good natural features like trees and rocks come into play but also the man made object like ski lift poles or the ski lift itself. Depending on where the ski lift stops may change a few holes from year to year.

Cons:

There are several places where a very annoying fence comes into play. You will either have to step over the fence of climb through it. Occasionally there are horse put out to pasture in areas where the course is situated. There is one hole with a basket in the middle of a ski lift pole that feels like a gimmick. While the course par is fair, it is also a little on the generous side of things. The tee signs were not permanent and could blow over in a strong wind. There are a couple of places where finding the right basket to play to may require looking at a map. Hole 7 may be the best example of this as you can see hole 16's basket from 7's tee but not 7's basket. Distances on tee signs are measured along fairway lines and often have a shorter more direct line making the distances feel off.

Other Thoughts:

I played this course for the 2014 Colorado State Championships for the first time and I know that a lot of work was put into this course to make it the best it could be for this tournament. I cannot promise that the course will be kept up like it was for this tournament but the rumor is that they will keep the redesign that was done for this tournament. This really is a championship caliber course for the most part. The fun level on this course is super high. I simply had a blast and would love to be able to play this course on a consistent basis. While I enjoy other courses in this area as well, I almost feel like this course is now the best course in the area and well worth stopping at if you are driving by. It is a bit of a hike though not as bad as most people made it out to be. Park in the main parking lot for the ski area and the first tee is right next to the main eating place at the base of the mountain. Hole 18 finishes up the hill a bit but this was done to prevent errant shots from hitting the buildings. Please do watch out for horses and other hikers in the area. You will definitely want to bring a map with you to make navigation that much easier. You will also want to prepare for a hike when you play this course. It is in the mountains and you will not want to be at the furthest holes from the base when a storm blows through if you are not prepared.
