A great beginner course, probably frustrating for everyone else 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 21, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course was certainly designed with the brand new beginner in mind, fortunately that's precisely what I am. It was my first ever time disc golfing and this course worked wonders for improving my game and throwing in just 9 short holes. I'll certainly be visiting it many times in the immediate future and will certainly hit it up when teaching new friends. The course is a very easy layout with easy to read signs once you spot them and since the underbrush hasn't grown in yet it is great for retrieving wild throws. All the baskets and tee mats are in fine condition.

Cons:

Perhaps its greatest advantage of being a beginner course is also its greatest negative. I can't imagine too many intermediate to dedicated disc golfers giving this field any real attention other than to try it just once. Granted this is only my first course I've played but it just doesn't strike me as very difficult or interesting. I honestly can't think of any other cons. It is apparent that some areas of the course could get muddy after a decent rain but everything was bone dry and perfect for my day of play.

Good Course to burn an hour 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 29, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Good mix of fairway lengths.
Fairways are well maintained.
Nice little park.
Good stable tee pads.
Rounds often take 30-40 mins.

Cons:

Rounds are very short, usually play 2 rounds when I am with friends.
The roughs in the middle of summer can be pretty bad, lots of vines and thorns.
Some areas can be muddy, especially between holes 1 and 2.
Very little signage.
Is very difficult to know exactly where course starts.

Other Thoughts:

The first time I went to Tamanend to play, I actually starting playing on tee 9, throwing towards hole 8. That is how poor the signage is at this course. For those who have not played here, park by the pavilions and the first tee is past the closest pavilion.

Other than the really bad signage, the course is a good mix of long drives, technical mid-range shots, with a very deep tunnel on hole 8. You can very easily play this course with 3 discs, and you will only need a driver for the first two baskets.

Fast and fun 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 7, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Perhaps the best 9 hole course I've ever played, Tamanend offers a lightning round of laughs and quick thrills. With the exception of hole 1, the rest of this course is under 200'. Each hole is well thought out and offers a challenge in its own little (sometimes very little) way. As other reviewers have mentioned, it's a great place to work on putt and approach. Good use of any and all elevation this park provides, as well as natural and man made obstacles to challenge. I'd be here every lunch break if I worked closer.

Cons:

Signage is the only big issue I can speak to. Upon entering the park, hole 1 isn't indicated so I had to refer to the course notes on this site. There are no tee signs. Otherwise, the layout is pretty intuitive, and next tee is usually marked.
The soil on this course retains water well, so if it has rained or snowed recently, expect a lot of squish underfoot.

A Great Starter Course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 16, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Nice 9-hole disc golf course nestled inside a great community park. Plays as it was designed to with short but sometimes difficult shots. Most holes are birdie-able. Some nicely placed pin locations that will test your short game. Great place to stop for a quick round at lunch time or after work.

Cons:

As with any disc gold course inside a park, there will be times of conflict with non-DG'ers. As long as everyone stays cool, this won't result in anything worse than having to wait a minute or 2 before throwing the next shot. The rough around some baskets is REAL rough. Over time, that won't be an issue.

Other Thoughts:

This course is exactly what Lower Bucks County needed - a place for beginners to learn the game. With a possible expansion to 18 holes, this solid course will only get better. Hats off to Brian and Matt for getting this project done.

Tamanend Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 17, 2014 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Beginner friendly course
Easy to get around
Some challenging shots
Quick to play
Hole 8 is really fun

Cons:

Can get busy
Dog walkers with their dogs running around off the leash.

Other Thoughts:

Was really trying to think of cons, and those 2 are what I came up with. Most of the dog walkers where very nice and had their dogs under control, on couple where very rude...saw we where in the middle of playing and let there dogs do whatevere. We had to wait for the dogs to get a safe distance before we continued.

Course itself is fun and quick. Group of 3 of us with one of us who was playing for the first time, played 4 rounds in 2 hours.

Experienced players may want to play with a putter for more of a challenge.

Look forward to bringing other new players here to get the bug!

Great Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 18, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Well laid out interesting shots. Lovely park. Very beginner friendly. The tunnel on 8 is awesome. Super easy to traverse, could see playing 3 or 4 times in a row. Nice little bench after hole 4 is a great place to carefully watch the blind drives off the tee.

Cons:

Tee pads are not particularly flat. No signs, but I'm fairly sure they are in the works.

Other Thoughts:

Tons of potential, this park is off to a great start.

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 13, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Super course for beginners, Challenging for experienced players. You really have to hit your lines and play with finesse. Easy terrain to walk on. It's really a fun nine! Nice facilities and plenty of parking. Two big pavilions to hang out and get cover from rain.Open grass field near first tee is great for warming up.

Cons:

Only nine holes as of yet, I hear another nine in the works. No signage or benches yet. A couple of holes could be longer and there is room for pads set back a ways for long and short options.

Other Thoughts:

Baskets are marked with yellow tape towards the next tee pad, tee pads have hole number painted on them.Very well designed, of course there is always room for improvement by making it unique and challenging! Good job to all that had a hand in this! It would also be nice to have distance to pin available, maybe scorecards?

Other Thoughts:

9 hole, pitch & putt style course. 6 of the 9 are under 200 ft., but don't let that fool you. The design is beginner friendly, yet still presents enough challenge for experienced players. It is well designed, has a nice flow, and is a lot of fun to play! No signs yet, but the baskets are marked to show you the way, and the paths are easy to find and nicely cleared. One of my new favorites, especially if I don't have the time to play a full round at Tyler.
