Tropical Jungle Fun! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 29, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great layout, challenging holes though out, beautiful course, great variety of shots, #3 is easily the best water hole I've played!

Cons:

signs could use an overhaul, not easy to find your way there for a first time visit, fairways could use a bit more grooming ( just take out the small bushes and plants that aren't meant to be obstacles, that end up hiding your discs from you).

Other Thoughts:

did not encounter this myself, but some holes play very close to other park goer activities. i went at 3 on a week day. I shot a 65 first time out, i still think i left plenty of strokes out there as on some of the longer holes i was guessing where the basket was. Cant wait to play here again.

Opening Day 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 27, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

Creative use of water on holes 3, 4 and 18. The back nine has some fun hole placements, hanging and elevated. I think hole three is awesome, throwing from the am/pro tee you throw across a pond to an elevated basket.

Cons:

As of right now, it is really easy to loose a disc on this course. The majority of the fairways are covered with brush and thick brambles on both sides. The water holes are easily managed by adjusting shot choice, hole 3 is only 200 something feet but can get in your head when throwing from the am/pro tees.

Other Thoughts:

This course has a lot of potential. I really hope that the fairways and out of bounds areas are worked on to eliminate some of the really thick brush. I found this course to be more designed for a finesse thrower as opposed to a power thrower. I shot a 79,11 over par, but I honestly think I could knock 5 to 6 shots off my score next time by adjusting my throw selections. My wife and I had a great time and will play this course again next time we visit our friends. Ps, lost a champion glow Katana on hole 5 in the crazy thicket to the right and my wife lost a clear tye-dye Champion leopard in the water on hole 18. We will pay a reward for return discs.

South Florida isn't ready for this 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 27, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

After three holes, I was thinking that eighteen holes more like this and Jet Stream would be one of my very favorite courses. I cooled off a bit as the course progressed but it is possibly my favorite niner as is and well, man, those first few holes.
The first isn't a signature or anything but it's just a beauty of a wooded RHFH anny line with a distinct woodchipped fairway, the kind of solid hole that is the bread and butter of most 4.0s.
The second hole, that is a signature hole. Across the water to a hanging basket that sits on a cliff above the pond. Throw isn't high enough? It's rumbling back into the drink. A risky shot, but what a reward. You basically hit the green for an easy deuce or go OB. Still, the best part may be how well the hole is designed for different ability levels. The blue tee is directly across the pond. Go big or go home, as they say. The white tee is offers the chance to hyzer out to the left side of the pond and safety while the red tee offers beginners a short carry to a big landing area about fifty feet from the pin and at half the height.
Three isn't as spectacular but it might be even more tough. There is no cliff on the opposing side, but is a looooong carry from the blue tee. And yeah, it's elevated so long hyzer bomb is just going to look beautiful over that water. The white tee, again, a shorter carry and then a land approach, while the red tee this time avoids the water alltogether. Again, the different tees don't really shorten or lengthen the hole: they just shorten or lengthen the amount of that is over water.
Seven is similar to one, it's a longish wooded hole, but the line here will be more appealing to a RHBH slight hyzer. Again, the kind of hole that I would not expect in South Florida.
And then there is nine. Across the water one more time and the pin is high. From the blues, this one is even harder than two. Carry the lake, keep it high enough to land on top of the cliff and, oh yeah, most of the approach to the basket is blocked this time. It will be severely tempting to try and land much further to the right of the basket where there is more space but will likely result in a three at best.
So yeah, Jet Stream has signature holes.

Cons:

The rest of the holes aren't bad. But they pale in comparison to the better holes here. In particular, five and eight obviously serve to maneuver you around the property. They run a little close to park roads and seem a little bit like filler. Still, if everything is finished, and the back nine match up to the current nine, this is a 4.0 with 4.5 potential. The top holes are that memorable. But I don't know of the terrain is available to make another nine this good.
And as of now, the course is still a work in progress. Download the map, because you will have difficulties otherwise. Navigation aids are minimal. I assume those are coming. I'm assuming cement tees will go in as well. (Just grass and colored markers now.) The tee signs are nice but it is definitely unfinished.

Other Thoughts:

Already one of the best courses in the area. Bring the map until its finished but it is very playable.

snyder park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 25, 2015 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

A lot of different style holes making for multiple shot options . The course has been tweaked since the baskets where first put in and is much more friendly but still very challenging . They also hired a diver and have a return box and have returned many lost discs already . There are 3 different tee pad locations for every hole but still only 9 baskets . A must play if in the area !

Cons:

only 9 baskets ... for now

On a different plane 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 23, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

NOTE: I am reviewing this course with only 9 holes in the ground.

This is a pretty cool park. There are little pagodas with picnic tables perched above the lakes, surrounded by palm trees. There is even a little dogs-only swimming hole.

I love when a course shows me something I haven't seen before. Hole 2 does just that. From the white and blue tees, you are throwing an uphill, over-water shot to a hanging (sort of) basket above a big mound. I can't explain it, but it looks like something out of a pirate theme park.

Another good one was the long wooded hole (5 or 6, I think, I can't remember). It was a good example of how to make a wooded hole. You don't need a ton of trees.
You need trees in the right place with good landing zones. Aside from the rough (see below), fun hole.

There are three tees on every hole of appropriate difficulty. I primarily played the red tees, which don't throw across any water but are still pretty fun. The white tees look tougher, and the blue tees feature some very difficult shots on every hole, including tight gaps on the other side of the lakes and lagoons.
This had a better mix of open and wooded shots than the other Ft Lauderdale courses I played.
Tee signs are pretty good, showing the various tee locations.

Cons:

Keep in mind that these cons are mostly related to the courses brand newness. I think the course isn't even three weeks old.

The rough here is awful. On the first hole I spent a combined 10-15 minutes looking for my disc on two separate shots. It's not bad on every hole, but if you play here often enough, you'll shank off a tree into some thick growth that will hide your disc forever. It was obvious that a lot of growth was cleared, and I saw the designer clearing more when I was there. Hole 1 definitely needs some more stuff wiped out.

The tees are all grass right now with little colored stakes, but I imagine this is temporary.

Other Thoughts:

I met the designer, and he indicated they are putting another 9 holes in. This course has a lot of potential. It's a scenic and has some great lines.

I wanted to get a review of this course up, but feel free to PM me when the course is done and a few more reviews are up, and I can delete the review (or hopefully update it if I make it back to the area). No need for a stale review to bring down the rating.

But come play it, even with 9 holes. There is some fun stuff going on here.
