Pros:
The course resides in the city park just north of US 130 and is easily accessible from I-80 or Highway 30. Plenty of space to park allow you to start from a wide variety of holes. For example, I park near the hole 2 tee-pad, and then walk back and play holes 1-8, which are the most played holes on the course.
Rarely, anybody plays this course so you have it to yourself most of the time.
Good mixture of holes that are 250 feet to 400 feet, some of which cannot be reached in one throw.
The course is friendlier for a right handed forehand thrower than a right handed backhand.
Friendly people always around this area makes this course an inviting place to play. Surely, you will feel welcomed.
Park is constantly in use, so they're are many people playing either basketball, tennis, running track, etc. As opposed to a graveyard where no one is around.
Signs help illustrate where the holes are. Although, some of the distances seem to be off, as with the case on hole 4. Listed distance is 240 feet but feels much more like 340 feet long.
Favorite holes are 3-4-7- and 8 forces you to throw a blind shot from the top of a hill before it descents.

Cons:
Some holes are poorly designed. Such as:Holes 9-10 are long boring holes that can be skipped. They are 500 feet long and force you to throw straight across the soccer field in a straight line. I would rather see them placed elsewhere along the hill near the baseball diamond.
In addition, the park department has taken out holes 13-16 for football season since the field is being used by the High School Team.
Traffic along the road on hole 3,4 can get busy at times, forcing you to be patient with pedestrians frequently present.
The course aligns with some residents yards (Holes 5-6) some farm fields holes 7-8, so an errant throw means you have to navigate through private property. Be aware of the soybeans or corn. Although, the harvest has already been picked as of this posting.

Other Thoughts:
The course has a limited amount of potential available once improvements are made. In the meantime, feel free to stop by and play the first 8 holes.
As it stands, the course gets 2.5 stars but could stretch to 3.00-3.25 once the infrastructure is in place.
Nice little option for those traveling through the area between Davenport, Iowa City, Cedar Rapids.
Parking near the swimming pool is your best bet because this leaves the option of playing the back nine as well. Although, the back nine is longer and not worth your time if the pins are not in place between holes 13-16.
I spoke to the Parks and Rec Supervisor who said he would like to get some tournaments started next year in an effort to bolster awareness to the course.
Check out the local grocery store for some snacks and refreshments either before or after your round. Other wise, Tipton has a Casey's pizza and Hardee's if you get hungry.
