Pros:
1. A new course in disc golf starved northeast Alabama.
2. New MachX baskets with the orange sticker on the pole (love the orange sticker for visibility and aiming purposes).
3. Land dedicated to disc golf with mature pine trees, water, and a little bit of elevation on holes 2 ~ 5.
4. Fun course to play. Very quiet and rural even though it's next to a town park.
5. Very informative signage. I really appreciate this and not having to look at my phone while course bagging.
Cons:
1. Holes 8 and 9 are wide open. Kind of a let down to end the round.
2. The course gets congested towards the end. Hole 8's tee pad is in the firing range of hole 7's approach and hole 9's potentially misguided tee shot.
3. Hole 2 would be fun if you have a massive arm and can through 400 feet to clear the pond. Otherwise, it's a layup off the tee with a huge run at the basket for your second shot. This is what I did to get an easy 3.
4. Hole 4 was over-engineered for difficulty making it an easy decision just to go for the par. It has a super tight mando off the tee with a pond just a few feet behind the basket. I just threw a tomahawk to safely pass the mando, safe short upshot, and drop in putt to get my 3. Exactly the same procedure to clear hole 18 at Kudzu Cove with an easy par.
5. I kept looking at the beautiful hole 4 tee pad to hole 2's basket potential fairway and how great of a hole that'd be.
6. Grass tee pads currently.
Other Thoughts:
I love seeing new courses finally being added to northeast Alabama. Great land for disc golf in this frisbee deprived area. I'm glad that permanent tee pads haven't been added to this course yet, because it can be really good with a few tweaks. Looking forward to playing this course again and upping my rating.
