Pros:

- Well manicured park
- Good variety of distances, and multiple basket placements
- bathrooms right by hole 1 and 18
- you can park within a few steps of hole 1
- Tee signs with hole number and distance
- fairly technical for how wide open the park looks, the course uses the few trees it has very well
- navigation of this course is pretty easy

Cons:

- tee signs face random directions, making figuring out which direction you are throwing confusing on a couple holes
- I played this course on a early weekday morning, and there were quite a few people walking throughout the course, I could only imagine how packed full of pedestrians this course gets on the weekend or in the evening
- the course is almost completely flat
- even though there are multiple basket placements, there is only one distance on the tee signs

Other Thoughts:

Quick play 18 hole course that is well worth playing if you are in the south SLC area. But maybe skip it if you are playing in the evening or on the weekend.

Pros:

Easy on beginners! Easy to map and follow. A great course to learn your lines and new discs on.
Manicured field very hard to lose a disc!

Cons:

Pins are never moved anymore. lots of foot traffic, kids hanging on baskets.

The back nine brings thorns home with you. Be sure to clean your shoes.

Fun park course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 14, 2011 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Usually not very busy. Relatively flat course with great concrete pads and great markers. A little easier than some of the other courses in the area. On par with the difficulty of the U of U course but flatter.

Cons:

Sometimes you have to wait for people strolling across the park before throwing. I wish the back 9 was grassy like the front 9, but still very fun.

re done at last 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 14, 2010 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

re done all together. Tees are well marked and the course isn't too busy.

Cons:

simple design, good for the beginner. not a lot of shade, although given a few years this will improve.

Other Thoughts:

beware if you have new people with you there is a very deep canal that will eat you disks. I know the canal isn't on the course but sometimes the disk just goes across the street.

Improved 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 25, 2009 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

They have just recently put some work into the course changing some location of the baskets and putting in new sleeves.
Course is beginner friendly and new locaitons make several birdies possible.
There were very few people playing and this is a good course to play in the wind.
Very happy with upgrades to the course and hope to frequent it more often.

Cons:

Very flat course but makes up for it with distance

++First time playing was confusing cuz lack of signs and some holes are in confusing directions.

Other Thoughts:

After hole two go to path on left and walk back towards parking lot for hole three, hole 10 is to the right and seems to be logical choice.

Also hole 10 plays to the really short basket while hole fifteen is viable longer left...ribbons tied so basket can bee seen.

Thanks to local who put in work at the park making it much improved and fun to play.

(West Valley) Taylorsville, Utah 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 13, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

Newly re-designed park, new tee pads, tee signs, baskets. One of three courses (Creekside Park and U of U) in the salt lake valley area.

Cons:

Safety issues. Conflict with muli-use park.

Other Thoughts:

I was waiting to review this park for the re-design to be complete with all the amenities in place, ie tee signs, tee pads, new baskets. As of 04-13-09 this is true, with the exception of tee signs which will be soon be in place, the sign posts are set in concrete and are ready for the signs. The terrain for this course is flat and for the most part wide open. The front nine has some mature trees and other, younger 5 year tree growth still developing along the fairways. The back nine is mostly redesigned and landscaping is all new. Every tee shot is pretty wide open on all eighteen holes, even with the trees on the front nine, but this may change as the trees on the course get bigger and older. Holes play from 300 to 550 feet in length, nothing shorter than 300 feet as the technical level of this course is very low, being so wide open and new from the landscaping that was done. Most tee shots are grip and rip bombers. Difficulty level is higher than you would expect though, because of the constant wind blowing. The terrain is exposed to the elements so a predominant wind is always a factor, less so in the morning but still present.
There is a walking, jogging path that runs directly through the course, or vice a versa. Some of the tee pads are marked out on the path in yellow paint, which is asphalt as opposed to concrete like the newly installed pads. For example holes 1 and 2 are on the asphalt path, and 3 and 4 are newly poured concrete tee pads. All are dimensioned out to 5' x 10' areas. Once the tee signs get put in it will be fairly easy to navigate around the course. Right now though, after hole two it will be easy to miss hole three.
Tip: From basket two, go south on the jogging path 80 feet, turn left immediately past the fence and trees, onto the grass and walk approximately 150 feet (east), down the fence line to tee pad three, that plays away from the fence south onto the grassy area, back towards tee pad one. From there you make a clockwise loop around the grassy area, and from basket nine, you go north on the same part of the jogging path to tee pad ten which is marked out on the jogging path north of basket two 50 feet. I imagine a lot of people will go from basket two, to tee pad ten missing holes two through nine because you cant see tee pad three from basket two, but you can see tee pad ten.
There is no other misdirection that comes to mind, the course plays fairly straightforward in a clockwise direction around the park, except for what is mentioned above.
UPDATE 07-23-09 : HOLE ONE has been changed. it is away from the bathrooms and plays tight between the walking path and schule. no safety issue anymore, woohoo! rating changed to a three.
SAFETY. This is the reason I only give this course a 2 rating. Hole one. Plays directly towards the bathrooms, the basket on the other side of the bathroom from the tee pad. On a busy weekend this is going to be a lawsuit waiting to happen. Hole seventeen has conflict with protective fencing around the rec center. There are going to be some pissed off park officials once they see the neverending parade of knuckleheads retrieving their discs by going over a 12 foot fence.
Fairways that shoot down the jogging path. I am crossing my fingers that the tee signs they put up have some kind of warning about pedestrians having the right-of-way. There is conflict with 75% of the fairways on this course in relation to the jogging path. I don't see anything that can be done about the jogging path conflict, and its really not that big an issue if the disc golfers are considerate and pay attention, but holes 1 and 17 need to be re-designed. I give those holes less than a year before they are pulled.
In summary, this course will test your wind skills and patience. A multi-use park with conflict on almost every tee shot from other non-disc golf park users. Keep your eyes open and don't hit grandma walking the dog in the park. Mid week play is best, I don't see this course getting crowded ever, with what I mentioned above and the fact its sort of boring after playing it a few times.
