Great 10 in Great Falls 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Apr 15, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

I was pleasantly surprised with this course. Fun 10 hole that offers plenty of elevation change, a couple of blind shots, some good distance, and easy to navigate. Rubber tee pads on all of the holes and the baskets are in great condition and seem fairly new. OB comes in to play on holes 3, 7, and 8 and when the wind is blowing that adds another element of challenge as well. Hole 8 is a really fun downhill bomb around 540+ ft., just have to watch for wind carrying your disc into the OB area to the left or getting stuck in one of the pine trees that run down the left side of the hill. Hole 3 is a blind hyzer shot with the basket sitting pretty close to a drop off of about 20 ft. or so down to the street below. Whoever designed this course really made good use of the land they had to work with. There is elevation change on every hole of this course and a good dose of big bomb shots, not to mention that every hole is fun. The only short hole comes in at just over 200 ft. and the rest of the holes are all longer than 300 ft. with about half of them being over 400 ft. I will definitely be stopping by this course any time I am passing through Great Falls.

Cons:

No multiple pin placements. Although the rubber tees do the job, it would be nice to see cement tees installed here. Signs are not at every hole and the pars are not listed on the signs.

Other Thoughts:

There is a cement pad next to the parking lot that could be used to play to the baskets for holes 7, 8, and 10. The first time I played through I threw from 1's tee pad to the basket for 10 by accident. The basket for 1 actually sits up and over the other side of the hill nestled amongst some trees. Extremely blind hole so it is a good idea to scout the basket out the first time around.
