Great view, short pads 2+ years drive by

Pros:

This is a well laid out course set atop and around a hill in Warden Park in south west Great Falls. It makes very good use of the elevation changes and trees to make a course that gives a variety of shots necessary. Hole One starts up hill from the south side of the park and proceeds clockwise around the park. This causes shots with the near constant wind from different directions adding to the challenge.

4 of the pins are on the sides of the hill so roll outs are a crushing possibility on a bad putt. While not an overly long course, the elevation changes, pin placement, and wind make it pleasantly tough.

There is a good course map by hole one and all the tees have fairly accurate signs. Some pin placement has changed.

Cons:

Short pads! The only tee that is concrete and a descent size is the one sponsored by the mortuary owned by the course designer. All the rest are 4' worn rubber mats w/o proper backing. Many are safer to throw beside if you want to do a run up.

Some of the changes in pin placement make it hard to tell which pin to throw toward, couple times threw to wrong pin. Occasionally hard to find the next tee. Wandered a bit to find tee for 17.

Only port-a john and no water. There is also a walking trail going through course with some walkers, have to be aware.

Other Thoughts:

The view from here is great! This is one of the higher points in this valley and it looks across the Missouri and Great Falls. Worth playing just for that.

Warden Park 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Lots of blind shots. Beautiful view over city and river! Mostly open space with few obstacles. Many tee offs are below a ridge line and the hole is on the other side. If it isn't blind, then the hole is behind pine trees. There are now 17 holes!

Cons:

Very windy from the river up the hill.

Other Thoughts:

Watch out for prairie dog holes when walking between holes.
