Pros:
Good beginner to intermediate level course, with decent moderate length. Has well poured teepads with Discatcher baskets (they are the older Discatchers). Has a significant amount of water threat, but nothing overwhelming. Hole 3 is a cool 235' ish shot over the parks pond, with OB cement behind the pin. Hardly ever crowded. Best hole is the downhill wooded one on Hole 5.
Cons:
Short and not terribly challenging for advanced/pro level players. No holes over 500'. Fun factor tends to decrease as you go. After the first six holes, the course gets very drawn out and redundant. Lack of elevation. A few too many lefty friendly holes (holes 4 & 15 are nice exceptions). Teepads don't give any instance of which direction to shoot. I've actually gone the wrong way a couple times. Teepad on hole 16 is way off the mark. Course can flood very easily.
Other Thoughts:
Woods Park isn't going to qualify for "course of the year" honors anytime soon, but its a fine course for a small town like Wellington, and with few people using it, you can make up some safari shots (as I did accidentally) if the established layout is too underwhelming. They set up a much more challenging alternate course here for their KDGA tourney every year, and its definitely a good time. Not a must play, but definitely doesn't suck either. Just a few miles off of the Kansas turnpike if you're on I-35.
