Wood, lawn, and some water 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 29, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Well I should preface this with the fact that I am from the desert... so greenery is regarded highly. The park is fairly wooded with beautiful green grass throughout. There's a water hazard and much wildlife. A couple good elevation changes and pretty easy to follow with a little experience at such things. Good tees and baskets, and what appears to be some very good course pride(especially true for a town this size with no where of any mention to purchase plastic). I happened upon this course as a happy accident and was impressed with it's beauty, cleanliness, amenities, access, and proximity to town.

Cons:

An underachieving layout with not nearly enough elevation changes, heavy woods and/or challenging greens with too many flat/open holes. Some of the tee signs were gone. The pads are on the medium to small side and are a bit slippery. The road in and through is quite possibly the dustiest road I've ever been on... and I'm from AZ(which is built on dust).

Other Thoughts:

Many and varied wild things abound- everything from turtles to tics and everything in between. Met one of the locals warming up for a tourney coming up there. Solid scene apparently.

Where did those trees go??? 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Nov 9, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

There is a good mix of long and short holes here. Plenty of water threat and several holes have lines to hit.
Grass is kept short and the tee pads are adequate. The course flows fairly logically.
Here are my hole observations:
1- mostly open with the river on the right of the hole
2-river on the right, the line to hit is on the left hand side of the hole
3-shoots across the pond and the basket is protected by a big pine tree
4-slightly uphill and a low ceiling shot, basket is in the open
5-slightly downhill, cedar trees are plentiful
6-downhill shot and the basket is placed between a gap in the tree row
7-straight shot with 1 tree to throw around
8-longest hole on the course and very open
9-pretty much an open shot
10-low ceiling shot with the river on the left
11-similar to #10 but the basket is closer to the river
12-straight shot with the river behind the basket
13-a few trees upon approach
14-wide open not a single tree here
15-thick trees to your left, plays from R to L
16 short ACE RUN hole
17-a RHBH anny shot is helpful here
18-left side more open, basket is guarded by pine trees

Cons:

Signs just list the hole # and distance. Speaking of signs #4 and #10 were missing and #12's marker was broke.
There has been some trees cut down since I last played here. The tree that used to guard the basket on #11 is missing and the tree that was the only obstacle to throw around on #14 is gone too. I know trees die but on #14 it just makes for a super boring hole.
The geese and ducks on #3 sometimes make throwing difficult. The water on #3 is pretty nasty as well so if you throw a disc in there be prepared to get a little nasty.
Wind will definitely factor into the mix here and in the summer time it gets pretty hot because of the lack of shade.
People like to let their dogs run wild in the park so be aware of where your disc is before it becomes a chew toy.
The walk between a couple of holes slow the flow down a bit here.
After a good rain the ground can get soggy between 4's tee and 5's basket.

Other Thoughts:

This course is a pretty decent course that offers a good challenging round. It has had a few changes since the last couple of reviews, see the trees that were removed and the sign issues.
Still it is a good course to help you improve your game. If some trees were planted on the more open holes and the sign issues were fixed then that would bump this course up a half disc for me. Not a destination course but still a good choice if you are passing by.

***Update-After playing this course again on 6/25/2016 the course has gotten new signage. This helps for players to know the distance and layout, especially new players to the course. Gonna be a man of my word and give this course a bump up from 2.5-3.0 for fixing the signage issue.***

Good Excercise 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 16, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

-concrete tee pads
-discatcher baskets
-variety of shots

Cons:

-sometimes difficult to follow course. no map
-no pars marked
-no signs

Other Thoughts:

It turned out to be a fairly fun course to play. If they were to get some tee pad signs this course could really draw some more traffic.
