Am Worlds 2012--Charlotte, NC

Charlotte Worlds is going to be fantastic.
Only been there once for the Clash when it
was an NT. The city is easy, reasonable and
tons of great golf. What more could you want? I want
to play the best courses for me and will decide on a division
based on that.

It is disc golf you know. Enjoy it now not later.

All I know is if I do a tourney at Nevin again they better have that gate open! I don't like walking 20 minutes to my hole. Luckily my buddy got a ride back to the parking lot and he snuck in so we didn't have to walk back .

The ADV guys I felt really bad for at the CAC. The TD told everyone milling around before the round that there was no player meeting. Then Peckham started telling people there was. People that walked out that 20 minutes were called on their phones if possible and some returned to the parking lot visibly pissed. Then the TD just told everyone to go to their holes because there was no players meeting. I believe this was the main time delay which made all you guys that were finished at the nest have that excessively long break while you waited for us.

Last I heard, Huntsville is a mess. Maybe that's just hearsay.

If you are going to put Worlds in the southeast again, why not go to Atlanta? You only have the best course in the world there.

Huntsville in the hunt for 2013 Pro Worlds bid. Haven't heard about Ams. 2014 Pittsburgh and Twin Cities bidding for each.

Let me start my post off by saying that I really hope CDGC gets its infighting in check and is able to pull off a good worlds. With that being said I am appalled at the idea of driving 23 hours from Houston Texas to play 3 throw away courses for my first worlds. Sure Im MA1 and Im not "entitled" to the better courses but I am going to spend alot of money in Charlotte and on the tourney and deserve proper considerations. If CDGC can not provide me with proper amenities and good courses to play Ill stay home and play C-Tiers and Minis. I can speak about the differentiation of the quality of courses in Charlotte because Ive played in the last two CAC's (not well mind you) and have loved Renny and Hornets Nest but have been less then impressed with some of the other courses Ive played such as Sugaw, Kilbourne and to a lesser extent Nevin (way to unforgiving and unrealistic lines). If Charlotte can not provide the Amateur player with its best courses then whats the point really. If its such an issue then hold Am and Pro worlds seperately so that all players get to enjoy what Charlotte truly has to offer.

Did you happen to notice how many admins made statements alluding to their deed, then blamed it on the PDGA or said later it wasn't me?

I try not to read what the admins say in that thread since it appears to be a lot of words that tell me nothing.

Anyway, it's pretty damn lame that the Ams won't get to play at least either the Nest or Renny. The new courses do look pretty good so I think they'll get over it (especially RL Smith) but the women are really getting screwed over here.

I'd like to have some data on why or why not people will be coming or skipping the 2012 worlds in Charlotte to present at our next meeting.

I WILL be playing because:
1. I live here.
2. The schedule doesn't matter to me in lieu of me getting to play all the courses here whenever I want.
3. I have the choice of four different divisions to play in.
4. It is cost efficient in lieu of my proximity and not having to alter my daily life to accommodate it.


If I did not live here I would still play if work and finances enabled me, but only in the pro masters division as the courses stand currently.

Aye the wait wouldn't have been so bad if there was actually some parking and it wasn't so hot. I think we waited a good 2 hours. Also with Renny they could have told us there was a parking lot where they made those gold holes part of the original. Again I walked 20 minutes, and up a big hill!, to find my hole right next to a parking lot :doh:. When I head to Charlotte Renny isn't one of our normal stops so I didn't know it was out there .

Having the pdga country club down the road could be a factor as well.


Thanks Bill for the honest responses. Christy and yourself are not the only ones that have questioned the CAC payout, especially for the women, and are hesitant to trust that since the same group is running worlds.

I'm wondering if I should start a seperate thread for this?

Our bad on that. Stan called ahead and the park dept didnt open. I did take that bollard out though so you could drive around, some people didnt notice though.
