Recommendations for 2011 Christmas Secret Santa

I liked not knowing who I was sending to, kinda takes the pressure off of me. I sent gifts that I thought I would like to receive. If we know who we send to we might as well drop the secret and just call it Christmas! :p

Isn't secret Santa where you do draw names? I've never heard about how yall did it before where everything was random.

Also people could leave a wishlist so people would have some idea of what to get them.

You could do levels for those wanting better prizes. Not sure how you did them in the past but you could have some people that are going to spend $20ish, some $30ish, etc...
then it is just too much work. i already have a job and dont need another one
This shouldn't ever be the case. Always give as much as you can and don't worry about the rest!

it shouldnt be but is. but the way i have it done with randoms it eliminates the "i only sent him like $15 worth and he sent me $50" feeling that a few people had last year.

I don't know how this would make anyone feel better. If you really feel bad about sending so little, why does it matter if someone else sends you better stuff than the person you sent to in particular? That doesn't really change anything.

what should the minimum be this go round?

$15-20 is fair, or whatever it has been in the past.

Well doing the tiers would stop that "feeling" all together.

I don't understand why it would be 100% random I've never seen it done like that.

This is true. Usually you get a name. Online you could get a name and address (and wish list). If you are not pairing people I think it makes sense to know who you are sending to. Either way is really fine with me.

people email me that they are interested and i put it in a spreadsheet and randomly pkug in the numbers

We aren't talking about how you match people. Based on what Prerube said

"I would like knowing who I am buying for, they just do not know who they are receiving discs from."

It sounds like no one knew who they were sending to until they had already purchased things to send. I was saying that wish list and knowing who you are sending your stuff before hand would make it much easier.

I don't like the pairing idea because that would essentially take the Secret out of Secret Santa.

That way it was done this past time worked well, we just had a few douches that didn't send.

I will help be glad to help out also.

i don't understand how it's not possible to include your username on dgcr with your address so that when the person gets your addy they also get your username.

I like the idea of knowing who I am sending to, but keep secret who is sending to me.

The iTrader feedback is fine, but I only have a 3 maybe a 4 by Thanksgiving. So what else would I have to do?

Christmas in July was my first. I spent well over $40 on the gift I sent and sent it pretty much on time. I agree, the guys who did not send last time are *ssholes! But do not lump me in with thoses guys because I only have a 3 or 4 iTrader Rating.

Maybe if you keep a spreadsheet of who is sending to who and then when people recieve their gift they PM you that they got it and you can check it off. Then we will know who are the *ssholes.

Or, how about divide the number of posts by the number of months you have been a member? This will give us an idea how active the person has been on the site. Pick a number, if you are above it your in, if you are below it, then someone will have to vouch for you.

I say if you participated in July you get a pass for Christmas...

its possible, i just choose to do it that way because it was harder to find out who you were sending to

but the general consensus seems to be that we want to know who we are sending to. if we know then we can tailor our gifts to that person and everyone should end up with even better gifts.

it's your show though, do it as you wish.

I'd rather not know who I'm sending to or for them not to send to me. Part of the excitment is getting something I wouldn't have bought otherwise. From what I recalll some members did research to see what people threw. Id rather get something completely unexpected that I wouldn't have thought to buy myself.

Also unfair to use the Itrader ratings. A lot don't trade, buy or sell on here. I've sold a dozen things and have only received two feedbacks. Also I've been involved in other gift exchanges and send winnings on bets but now I get punished for not enough feedback?

Too many rules make it more difficult. I want to be in but I think last year worked well. No need to make too many changes.

If you are a premium member you clearly are not going to just rip people off of 20 bucks and vanish, the crown cost you 25. Plus you've been on long enough for people to vouch for you. But good points
