What is this disc worth? (Part II)

wait.. he did this for the appraisal of my test z nuke too, so does that mean thats +/- 30 from say.. oh idk, $100? cuz I'd like that

No.

That's the crux of this all... if he just said 30, that's fine. It means he estimated it at 30. Implied is that you could get more or less.

But no, he decides to say +/- 30, meaning nothing at all. If he had said instead, 30 +/- 15, it means 15 to 45, but 30 is the average.

Also, bad news. You say you got this "test" Z Nuke at the 2011 AM Worlds. It may be a prototype. The bad thing is that there's almost no demand for it, so I'd say you'd be lucky to get about $20 for it. There are a LOT of sparkle, glow, swirly, Z and ESP Nukes floating around from 2010-2011, plus all the prototypes from the Nuke SS and Nuke OS. You can even still get some prototypes from some online sources because they're basically just sitting on the shelves. Examples include: http://www.discnation.com/Discraft-Nuke-Elite-Z-Sparkle-2011-Am-Nationals-Disc-Golf-Collectible-Discs.html

If it's just a blank-topped prototype Nuke... try finding a diehard Discraft fanboy or a Nuke collector and pawn it off to them as fast as you can. I cannot see its value growing at all, unless it becomes a standard driver for Nate Doss winning the next 5 Worlds in a row or something implausible like that occurring.

It just isn't that collectable yet. It could become like some special Destroyers and the price would grow to $60 or so, but it could also have its value nosedive to the point where you'd be lucky to get $5 for it.

In short, yes it's cool, but given what you paid for it, expect it to be a wall hanger for the next few years unless you can find a buyer somehow. Or accept the loss if you need to sell it now and move on.

yeah actually when i bought it i was inspired by a sale i saw on ebay a long while back where someone had a non stamped prototype CE teebird that went for like $300 or so. and obviously this will never have the desirability of any disc in CE plastic, i think that if the nuke becomes a staple disc in the bag of every disc golfer in the future that in five years or so it could be worth quite a lot of money. especially because its signed on the bottom Test Z Nuke 6/11/10. anyway, I have no intentions of taking off the wall any time soon and i guess ill just have to repost it again in five years or so and see what happens. but i agree with everything you said and thank you for explaining that out for me

I fail to see how providing constructive criticism designed to allow you to start building credibility is "improper". This is the very point of your rebuttal, and thus, you've failed in trying to tell me that I'm doing it wrong.

You don't understand what I'm saying. +/- 200 means nothing whatsoever. It could mean "$0" to "$1,000". In short, your estimates aren't estimates at all, but rather, something with no credibility at all.

If you said in your recent appraisal of the 02 CE Roc that it was 200 +/- 35, that means your estimate is that it'll probably average out at $200, but could go as low as $165 or as high as $235, depending on the market and buyer and the disc itself. This is what you are attempting to do.

Instead, you've maintained that your estimates are worthless, that you are incapable of comprehending and incorporating advice that did not actually criticize you, or the method you were using to provide estimates, just that you were reporting your estimates wrong.

You currently have zero credibility, because a part of having credibility on this very forum is being able to admit when you're wrong, learning, and changing what you do based on actual verifiable feedback & information. Nothing of what I said is new information or esoteric. It is a basic principle of math itself. If you graduated high school, you would understand this concept. There is no point in fighting against my suggestion if you want to garner any credibility.

Good day, sir.

wow this is serious business. +/-1 credibility pt.

The Ontario tooling indicates that the disc could date from 1990. The bullet stamp means that it predates the XD Putt and Approach stamp. Bullet XDs have appreciated in value, but the 164g weight hurts a little bit.

It is mint though, so that helps the value a lot, especially for a collector that wants the stamp on a mint disc. It'll really depend on who's buying the disc for whatever purpose they want it for. Some may want it as a thrower and will want to know if it's a "soft" XD, others may want the pristine condition of the disc. In either case, you can probably get about $30 for it, depending on all these factors. It's not really "wow" material nor is it a San Marino XD. If it is a soft XD, you can probably get a little more for it though.
