The following message is brought to you by pnasalberta's current 4 mold bag thread:

I found during my round tonight that I was throwing pretty inconsistently, and I think I want to give this mold minimalization a shot.

For my distance driver, I am going Valk. Roc and Swan 2 will fill the mid and putter slots.

Problem is, I am kind of a fairway whore, and I can't decide which one to keep in the bag.

Unfortunately, my Teebird is out for the time being, because I only have it in DX, and my course is a bit wooded. I have put myself on a 3-month disc-buying moratorium, or else I would pick one up in premium plastic.

So, it comes down to the drivers up top. The FD hasn't even arrived, but I am excited about it. I just got the River recently, so I am not sure if I should put it down this quickly. Plus, I have one in GL and one in test material, so it gives me a little more flexibility. Finally, I have my old standby, the TL. I love it, but it has been a bit finnicky lately.

People of DGCR, I need your help. I am leaving this decision in your hands. Guide me well!

GL River is one of my best discs. Easy to make it fly like a Teebird and gets the D of a Valkyrie.

i'd get a CFR Champ TL, not as much D as the River but more control and reliability within the mold. plus the river isn't stable enough to be the just one fairway in your bag, a champ TL is stable enough.

haven't thrown a FD so can't comment on that.

I second the Champ TL arguement. With a Valk as the distance driver, I definatly think that a more overstable driver would be a good compliment. I don't have much experience with anything besides the CFR TLs, but every one that I have thrown has only been fractional less o/s than a normal Teebird in Star or E* (and not that far behind a Champ TB).

If you're open to suggestions, I would go with a full spread of PDs: P, S, and C line. Three plastics, one mold, and the vast majority of your distance needs all wrapped up in one hideously stamped package.

So pumped that my thread got another thread created because of it. I have 4 tbs and I'm getting a FD to try out but i'd say the TL because you have had it the longest and you can cycle them with teebirds, they are pretty much the same mold.

I use the teebird, but the river is a nice disc too.

Still, I'd say give a star teebird a shot.

Teebird teebird teebird, oh sweet dear teebird.

I voted FD just because we should support the smaller manufacturers.

Seems like all the disc being voted on are not that much shorter then the Valk. So actually I would have suggested a leopard as something between the Valk and Roc.

I'd say get a Champ Teebird (not TL) when that 3-month period is over. Until then, I think that the River is your best bet. I have TLs, Teebirds, and Rivers, and I think that the River will fit the bill for you!

Are you doing a 4 disc bag or 4 mold? If 4 mold is the case I'd go with the river. I carry 2 rivers. One is pretty flat and more understable than a leopard and the other is domey amd more like a longer tl.

It is a great thread! I had a blast seeing what everyone would pare it down to. Very educational.

Teebird teebird teebird, oh sweet dear teebird.

If I had one in premium plastic, this thread would not exist.

I am thinking of using the FD simply because I haven't used it at all yet, so I won't be going into it with a certain set of expectations and can just focus on learning it.

The Valk I pretty much use on 2 holes, with water. I throw a beat DX over it so I don't really care if I use it. I also have a Roadrunner on the way, so this may take the Valk's place. I really could do a 3 mold bag without water on the course.

4 molds. I have a couple of each of the River and TL, so that plays in favor of those discs. I have a Leopard, but I prefer the River over it.

Keep the votes coming!

keep the TL and then add a banshee for overstable shots.

good choice on the valk too

I recently bought a dx teebird (max weight) to use in the snow/cold. Well, not much snow or cold up here in Chicago this year.

Recently brought it back out to complement a lightweight star, and wow, I have been impressed. I am really digging the dx.

The DX Teebird is absolute money, but I tend to find trees a little more than I like. For open, max D shots it has been huge for me the last few months.

Once my 3-month moratorium on disc purchases ends, I will be bagging a Star Teebird for sure.
