Last night I had a run in with a Park Ranger named Dennis on a power trip who was kind of like the "soup nazi" with shorter shorts. No disc for you! We were at the Farm at Founders and finished up 20 mins after dusk and he was blocking the exit gate forcing us into a lecture that sounded like I came home 30 mins late and it was from my father. Keeping in mind I'm 31 years old I don't need to be threatened with legal action for 2 business professionals enjoying a quick round after work. His whole condescending tone was what really set me off.

Let's hear your stories of run ins with Johnny Law while playing a round

I'm curious, what was his beef? The fact that it got a little dark and you were still there?

Did he have to stay on premises until you guys left? If so I know it wasn't intentional on you guys part but that would be kinda crappy for him. He probably has some screwed up hours to begin with.

Yea kinda sounds like park closes at dusk and you were late getting out. IE making him/her work past what he/she wanted. Have you ever tried staying in a bar past closing time? Same deal.

During a break in between rounds at Ft Yargo, a couple of buddies and I decided to have a cool adult beverage. We were very discreet, but noticed an older lady sitting in the parking lot like she was watching us. We just set our drinks behind our bags and continued to sit and talk.
She left after a few minutes so we decided to finish our drinks, when all of a sudden 2 park rangers come whipping in on us in 2 different vehicles in 2 different directions. One of the rangers actually had body armor on!
The lead ranger asked us "What are we doing w/ Bud Light guys?" My buddy said, "Drinking them." The ranger said we would have to pour them out and proceeded to ask for our id's. Since I did not even open mine yet, I put it back into the cooler and got my wallet out.
The lead ranger noticed my buddies badge (he is a sheriff's deputy) and said, "Wait, are guys law enforcement?" He told his gung ho partner to go ahead and leave, then commenced to remind us that drinking wasn't allowed on state park property.
We told him that it wouldn't happen again, he left, we grabbed our gear and headed back to the 1st tee.

Many parks have curfew times and they should be respected. If you're out after curfew, consider yourself lucky if a lecture is all you get. Some places hand out stiff fines.

And while were on the subject could someone get the course length for this course fixed? You're supposed to total the holes together to get the shortest course and the longest course, not put just the shortest and longest single hole length.

Yeah some of them are a bit over the top. We were playing Whittier Narrows a while back when this pooper trooper comes roaring up in his Crown Vic, jumps out and proceeds to write donniesharko a $200 ticket for smoking a cigarette (!)

We ran into a PR at East Metro in Austin. We were on the tee for 7, i think. He was very cool and just shot the shiz with us for a few minutes. He def could have had buddy arrested, he had just got done smoking. I was holding my breath but he never mentioned it.

The problem is that you parked at hole 2; they have to stay and find/wait for you when you do that.
Instead, park by the ice rink or skate park.

Yeah the park closed at dusk. He probably was wanting to be home with his family instead of waiting for us. I considered this and had he been a decent guy about it such as "hey guys I had to wait for you and I was supposed to be doing the family thing" I would have totally responded in an apologetic manner and even offered his family a McDonald's gift card out of my wallet for him to make it up to his family. My beef was the power trip he was on. You catch more flies with honey. He talked to us like we were lowlife vagrants.

My buddy hit a security cop van at Mars Hill -- one of the last holes, I don't know which but the hole plays alongside a hill that slopes down to the left, and the road is at the bottom. She drove up the hill as he walked onto the pad, and when he threw the disc it was on a beeline for the van!

BANG!

We were ready to get kicked out, but when we approached she said the most perfect thing a frolfer can hear -- "Is your disc OK?"

Best.

You might not have been the first people who did this to him.

If I were a ranger, after a dozen or so incidents of being kept at work late I'd be out of patience myself.

That's cool bro, but "frolfer"?? Really?? You went there? lol :D :wall:

I work 3rd shift and often go play a round when I get out at 7am. Way back when jc park first put a course in I went up there to check it out one morning. About half way through a solo round I turn around to find three cops circling around me looking like they're ready to draw down wild west style :\
Turns out there had been a rash of break ins in the area and they thought I looked mighty suspicious walking around with a big bag over my shoulder. I very slowly removed my bag to show them it was full of plastic not loot, they apologized, I thanked them for letting me know dg'rs weren't welcome around here and left.
Never once been back.

This isn't DG related, but back in high school one of the girls in our little group somehow got the idea that going to a city park and sitting around a candle would be somehow interesting. Given that none of us had a better idea or wanted to argue about how interesting that would be that was the plan we went with. As it started getting dark, but before the park closed, we had a park ranger approach us. Apparently someone called us in as being suspicious. He asked what we were doing and we showed him the candle. He looked all disappointed and said, "Man, I was hoping you guys had weed to share."
