Warm up Baskets... Why Not a Warm-Up Net?

I've seen a few courses have a warm-up basket. It seems to be a good way to quickly re-acquaint yourself with the feel of your putter in your hands, and to rattle a few chains before you get on the course.

My question, though, is this: why don't more courses (and maybe they do and I just haven't seen one yet) have a net Just put a net five feet off the end of a cement pad and let people chuck plastic into it. You could then "warm up" pretty quickly for throws over 50 feet to a basket.

Right?

I've seen that once here, you can see it on the right edge of this picture:

Mt Airy has a net at the end of an old shuffle board court. It's about 12' high and 20' wide. You can warm up throwing into that. It also has a couple practice baskets close by for putting.

My home course has one right next to the practice basket. It's actually for soccer but they don't need to know that I use it. It's about 30' high by 40' wide.

i have a small net that is portable and sometimes i bring that to the course for a league or something. it is awesome, not having to run and get your disc

lol You can just stand closer to it when you release.

That's what she said

Anyway, I would imagine that they would get destroyed by vandals/idiots, so it isn't widespread, but I think it would make a great addition to more pay-to-plays/private courses.

I wish every course had a practice putting "area" with 18 putting holes mapped out. I have only seen 1 course with this...

Large net = good idea!

I haven't seen one specifically designed for this, but I've seen a few courses with soccer nets or baseball batting cages nearby that, when not in use, are available for this purpose.

One drawback to a driving net is that you don't get the kind of feedback you get from practice putting, or throwing multiple drives in a field (or on Hole 1).

Warm up your legs by walking to get your warm up drives.

Something like this is easily destroyed by sun damage, wind damage, and vandals. It would be expensive to keep replacing.

What make and model of the portable net you are using? Would love to have one for warm ups and drills.

Driving ranges and paintball facilities don't seem to be replacing their netting all that often.

I think the net at Airy works because it's next to a pro shop. If it were unattended next to a practice basket at somewhere like Idlewild or Banklick I imagine it would get destroyed/vandalized/stolen pretty quickly.

I have a net in my backyard. It has a target in the center of it. I like it for practicing my release point or The Hit.
