[Discraft] Discraft Throwable Speed 12 in the Works?

That's distance potential, not speed. They aren't the same thing.

The Flash is way up there because it's a really good distance disc, not because it's actually "faster" than the other discs. A higher "speed" disc will be less affected by then wind when it comes to distance, but not necessarily stability. Faster discs penetrate better in headwinds and see less distance gained from tailwinds.

That was simply my tangible evidence. It fades at a higher speed than a Surge or Wraith. I was thinking that's what "speed" means. I look at rim width and flight characteristics. What am I missing?

Rim size is the same as a wraith which makes the flash an Innova speed 11. OP will get more D out of a Flash than anything faster, they're just bad in a head wind.

Discraft's next move will no doubt be an imitation of Blizzard technology.

Are you aware that the first link I clicked called it a speed 11?

I don't doubt it. I'm not sure if Discraft states its speed anywhere. Most say 10 but they may be "guessing". My point was that it's not a 12. Sorry for the lmgtfy.

OP here,

All the "you should disc down" comments are well received. I got some lunch time practice in today and threw a couple Surge SS's the farthest I've ever thrown them. Nice nose down, flat release, slight turnover rips. A couple just as far as my Nukes.

(From a basball diamond. Not sure what D was, but probly 300, 300+)

I'll have to work on pushing my surge/ surge ss's 300+....

Why would discraft imitate blizzard? They already have a lot of 150 class distance discs.

I've never had any problems with a Flash into headwinds. Not the problems I have with my Nukes, anyway.

Where would one go to find the rim sizes of different drivers? Is there an official site type thing?

Rim width puts it at an 11, but most observe it penetrating about as well as a Orc or Starfire, which are speed 10 discs. Rim width puts it at 11, most observe it acting like a speed 10 disc. Neither of those puts it faster than a Surge and slower than a Force.

Try here, pretty cool site

Disc golf sweden has it's rim width at .1cm larger than a Surge. Equal to a Wraith, .1cm smaller than a Destroyer, .2cm smaller than a Force. Hurricane is the same as a Force.

I would think the Hurricane would be more of a Destroyer SS. I thought it was WAY less stable than a Force

Thanks for bringing up Hurricane, I'll have to try one...

DGA Hurricane is listed at 12 5 -1 2

"The SP Line Hurricane is the fastest and furthest flying disc in the DGA line up. It offers amazing glide and can help beginners get some of their longest drives ever!"

..Sooooo... Discraft kind of makes a "beginner-friendly" speed 12.

..But not one that has their name on it and is easily accessible.

I think a Discraft stamp on the same or similar disc would sell really well.

(They usually tweak a DGA-to-Discraft-or-vice-versa-disc a bit, right?)

Discraft's name is on it ... just on the bottom.

The Reef is the only disc I know that is supposed to be the same for DGA and DC. The DGA version is a little bigger, but I've only had APXs in X, and it seems like X condenses a little more than other plastics, so it might be the exact same mold with differences only in the plastic cooling.

Most of the other DGA lineup aren't so direct descendents of DC. (Maybe the cyclone? Haven't thrown one.)

The DGA Titanic has Magnet tooling inside the rim. But I think it does have a nose spacer

The sparkle lines are usually more stable than the proline, just FYI
