[Innova] Roc3 flight

shark3 is overstable..... nothing like the roc3 imo

Pardon my ignorance but what did they do?

isn't the Shark a beadless Roc?

And Roc is to Wasp as Shark is to Buzzz

And yet somehow this new Shark is more OS than a Roc?

Are they super domey?
New wing with an "x" profile?

so they are making the shark more overstable and the roc less so?

Shark does not = beadless Roc like the Buzzz = beadless Wasp.

Pros would use a Champ Shark as their 'Roc' that didn't beat in, and they could always count on it to stay stable. Here's an old review on the Innova site:

Kyle Crabtree
The Champion Shark, is just like a brand new KC pro Roc;.... all the time. You wont have to get yourself a new roc after a few months. I really like it for stable mid range shots & approaches. Also the little bit extra glide that it has.

yeah i threw champ sharks for a while.. nice pearly, grippy and beefy.. like a different animal all together.. have no idea on the shark3 stuff tho

the mako3 is interesting me, a faster low profile mako with no dome? sounds great.

Maybe this has already been asked but what are the three mold changes?
Mold 1 = Bead added to an XD mold (Ontario)?
Mold 2 = the roc mold used for the last 20 years?
Mold 3 = RC3 mold

Shark does not = beadless Roc like the Buzzz = beadless Wasp.

I disagree

And this compares apples to oranges

Paul McBeth has been answering a lot of questions about all of his rocs and promoting this disc in his thread. So far he said that he actually loves it and carries 3 atm. He said it has replaced his kcpro rocs for a straight but stable disc. He said he still carries a really beat up kcpro and really beat up dx for turnovers. He said it is a different mold than the roc and that it is flatter and "faster", but it must be extremely similar because the pics are so similar to rocs; and innova didn't have it approved as a different disc. He said he doesn't like the buzzz and he thinks that you have to throw it with a lot of hyzer to get it to go straight. He said the roc3 will go straight without much hyzer and has "a bite to it" referring to the fade. He also said he was excited for the shark3 which will be more stable and that he will "definitely" be carrying it. So basically the line up he is intending to throw and recommend is shark3 (very stable), roc3 (stable to dead straight), and beat up kcpro/dx for various turnovers. Interesting stuff imo, makes me want to try one.

Got a couple first runs from Spinners. Put one away and one is in my practice bag. Out in the field I threw a Z Comet, a DX Roc(brand new), a flippy Star Shark, a ESP Buzz, a Glow Champion Gator, and the Roc3. It does feel similar to my ESP Buzz, excepting the Roc3's bead. Definitely more overstable than my Buzz, but not as long. I really like this new(?) Champion plastic. Tacky and flexible, it feels good to grip, but it feels nothing like the DX Roc, which is much more domey. Which is neither here nor there. And while I could not make it turnover to any great degree it is nowhere near as overstable as my Gator. Definitely a keeper and a carrier if for no other reason than it just feels good to throw.

Pretty excited that the Shark is making a comeback!

It's funny that it's approved under the same name as all the other Rocs. How many different Roc molds are we up to now?

I spoke with a guy that works at Innova last October and he said they made a whole new top for the Roc3 so it molds up flat. So technically it's not the same disc. Why not just keep the Destroyers and Teedevils under one name?

Do my ears deceive me? Did Aim just compliment an Innova disc? :p That's a very nice specimen there (and probably quite valuable now). The Roc3 gets discussed with some regularity in the "Mythical Innova Roc" thread, which I think is why no one ever posts in this thread.

I promise i throw all kinds of discs even if my bag is stuffed full of MVPz. Cant talk **** if i dont throw em and do the work!:) had this thing around for a while forgot how cool it looked and was surprised no mcbeth whatever thread upon searching being its his go to mid.

Haha, I was just giving you a hard time. I've gotten a surprising number of cool looking discs similar to that with transitional colors, swirls, etc. buying factory seconds off the Innova Factory Store. Of course you never know what you'll get with an F2, but they can be pretty cool looking sometimes.
