[Mids] Salient Discs Antidote Mid-Range

You are seeing the reflection I think from the back wall.

Aww man, I see what you mean now. It looks like the dome of the disc is distorting some kind of reflection from corrugation or something. I was thinking something like that might replace Goldline as my favorite "looking" plastic but, I guess not.

Antidote is PDGA approved! Should be available on the Salient website tomorrow.

One thing that I noticed on the web-site is that they are going to be available in weights from 162-175. I'm curious, is this mid the diameter of a driver? Why is the max weight only 175? Did they make an enormous driver followed by an undersized mid?

oh salient... You and your mysterious ways.

If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Tim wouldn't like that. He'd get about 14 posts per day (three of which would be posts about people getting an ace, and six more about people excited about some new disc they ordered) and about three times that many page views.

Alternative response to the one I already gave:

"What do you think this is, Salient Disc's Facebook page?"

Your stamp is nice, jimbo.

I know the flight chart was just released but I have a hard time understanding how a disc can be THIS straight… Thoughts? It's displayed as straighter than most putters.

I got this disc with my bag, and was not expecting much. I had held a Prometheus, but I have Whopper (small) hands, so there was no way I was going to try that. Anyways, I decided to give the disc an honest try, as I do with any disc that comes my way.

First of all, the plastic is awesome. I'll have to look up whatever plastic mine is( I think Cryo?), as I am not familiar with Salient's varieties. It is stiff and hard, like a premium KC kinda deal. I really like it, but that is very subjective. It is quite durable too. I threw it, almost full speed into a concrete pole about 15ft away, and it came out almost completely unmarked. There was a small scuff. Very few discs I own would have reacted similarly.

Next, the feel and flight were interesting. It feels like of like a cross between a comet and a coyote. It is comfortable, where comets often feel like they are going to slip out (in a power grip) for me. I have a Mako3 that I have recently fallen in love with, and this actually does not have too much overlap. I can make them do similar things, but the lines are different. I really just think of this as a slightly beat comet. It has excellent glide, a good dose of high speed turn (from a standstill it will flip up/turn over, but won't burn), and little fade. I have only thrown it one day in the field, but right now, it is staying in the bag.

It is replacing a Z Meteor that I love, but is actually a little too long for me at the moment. This has the same distance potential, but the Z Meteor had a tendency to want to ease out of a turnover, whereas this did not seem as inclined. I doubt this is a revolutionary disc, few are, but I like it. It is very friendly.

Overall, I am impressed. I have been slightly disappointed in Salient's PR, but if they produce more discs like this, in this plastic, I will be willing to give them a shot.
