When somebody makes a good shot, you may be inclined to say "nice shot!"
When somebody is having a bad round, do you say "nice shot!" for anything remotely resembling a good shot, just to be nice?
Do you tend to say "nice shot!" a LOT? Leading to "Dont nice me bro!"
Can being too nice piss people off??

I am the "Nicer-In-Chief"

I only have to think "nice shot" to make an opponent's disc hit a tree.

I tend to "nice" too many shots...but I just love the flight of a disc coming out clean, on what you know is a good line. To me, it doesn't matter if it just barely clips a tree, or the wind catches it and makes it dance like an inflatable-wiggly-arm dude, or if it takes a horrible roll. Maybe the longer I play, the less "nice" shots I'll feel like I'm seeing.

I only say, "Nice!" after an actual nice shot and after the disc has come to rest. I personally don't like it when someone "Nices" a not very nice shot. It doesn't piss me off though.

If you're just saying it to be nice, then hey, you're a nice guy. Who's gonna get pissed at a nice guy, who's merry and happy go lucky?

Plus, if someone gets genuinely mad at being "niced", they're probably an asshat, and should be mocked openly anyway.

... and all this time, I thought the word actually had to be said aloud.

If somoene's having an attrocious round compared to how they usually play, I might say something consoling the once or twice, but if it continues, I don't see the point in harping on it... they know they're having a bad round. Also depends on personalities and relationships.

I HATE when people give me a pity 'nice'. **** you!!!

I'm sensitive to being niced when I'm having a bad round. It just makes me more angry. Then I think, why get mad when someone's just trying to help. Then I think, f**k that, he's trying to get under my skin. Then I walk behind everyone else trying to get my head straight. Then I try to calm down and think about being smooth and accelerating to the hit and just throwing like I know I can. Then I throw a good drive (which gets niced in the air) that hits an iron leaf and dives into the thorns and the cycle repeats.

* This may or may not have happened this morning.

[Edit: This is my brother I'm talking about so the rules of normal society don't really apply.]

I think you can definitely say it too much. I don't get pissed, just think it's weird when someone says it every single shot no matter what. It does annoy me when people get pissed at someone because they say "nice" and the shot messes up. I agree, it's just stupid superstitious mumbo jumbo.

I say nice only to people I kinda know how good they play. When they make a shot that is above average for them ( what i think how good they play ) i say nice.

When anyone makes a shot I could not make I say nice every time.

There is no such thing as nicing somebody.

edit : and when i say nice, i mean it. I dont like head games and i pity people who are so desperate that they have to try them.

An example of a pity nice. Let's say my round is going like this:

25' putt - airball
20' putt - low putt, full on cage
15' putt - overcompensate, hit band/top
10' putt - too strong, splashes out pro side
5' putt - made it. <------- pity 'nice' is last thing I want to hear

i "nice" my friends all the time because we laugh about all this "you niced me" stuff

The one thing I do think is annoying is when somebody says "nice" to every fifteen foot putt you hit. Umm, I expect to hit every 15 footer, sir.

I like to yell "Get in the Hole" on both good and horrible shots by my friends but then I confuse myself as to why the term hole is being using in Disc Golf instead of Basket. Like shouldn't it be a 18 basket course? Whatever.

As far as people saying "Nice" to my shots, I don't even pay attention to it.

I do hate it when people say nice before my disc has cleared a set of trees. Usually they will pull out a nice and then bam. I don't mind it if it is actually a good shot. Don't be nicing my avg shots though, I think that is annoying. Just because it looks nice to you doesnt mean its nice for me.

first, people who yell "get in the hole" need to have their vocal chords permanently frozen

second,

" The first incarnation of targets were known as tonal poles because of the sound they made when hit. These consisted of a metal pipe placed on a smaller pipe that when struck with the disc made a gong type sound. While these were much more accurate than a tree, arguments and disagreements led to the invention of the Disc Pole Hole by Ed Headrick in 1975. The basket (as it is now known in most circles) is the standard for disc golf courses."

I like to yell, "Hit it!". Is that acceptable to you? :D
