[Westside] The Westside Shield

I'm hoping that the shield could be that off the tee putter i've been searching for.

The shield ended up being everything I hoped it would be. It was great for up-shots and drives off the tee. I'm excited to see it beat in a little more and see if it stables up into a great putting putter. For now I will just use the Judge for my putts and the shield for the upshots and drives.

tell me more preeze. someone told me this was actually fairly OS but i dunno if i believe him.

if it is, then gosh darn i will be throwing these with my kc aviars to see who gets the boot due to plastic options.

though if it is significantly faster as indicated earlier then i have no interest.

Throws a bit overstable for me. Wants to flex out of an anny, so s-shapes are easy to get from it.

Good feeling plastic & reliable flight. I hit some 40-50+' putts, but missed some 15' when my fingers hung up on the rim (I usually putt with zero medium Pures).

Interesting. To me the Shield feels almost the same in my hand as my zero soft Pure.

I was very impressed by the Shield when I was at the Trilogy Challenge. I'm planning on making it my new inside-the-circle putter. Seemed to get to the chains with such little effort.

I really like driving with the Shield. I have been using a KC Pro Aviar, but I like the grip of the Shield better and the KC Pro is beating into an understable putter. Oh yeah, it is not bad putter either. One criticism, is that it can "float" a bit on longer putts.

So, what other putters feel like and fly like the Shield because I would like to go in this direction for putters?

I had similar outcomes with my shield. I continuously hit low on putts in the circle, but made a few longer jump putts. In fact, I may have birdied more from outside the circle than I did from inside.

As a driver, it was overstable for me. When thrown flat, it would start to fade early (~75 ft out). Granted, the putter was/is still fresh, it will likely beat into something like a rhyno with more glide.

The plastic does feel amazing though.

I can throw this putter dead straight 250 if I put some on it. As a putter it flies like a slightly overstable mercy. Over all I like it a lot because it resists turn in putting and driving.

Sounds great. I just tried challengers today (hooray for 5$ x outs!) And found they are just a bit too shallow on top as well. Tried a dagger too, not os enough. The kc aviar wins out...for now... Start making more shields!!

I usually putt with kc aviars but because of the trilogy oppna tournament coming up in august i have to pick a trilogy alternate. I was thinking of the westside shield but they arent release until maaaaybe right before the tourney and i would like to have some practice time with them. So, i picked up some daggers to try and replace the aviars, temporarily, still need some time with the daggers...

During the spring I moved from Pure to Shield as my putting / up shot putter as I found it to be way more consistent.

In the Spring winds the Pure would go up and down like crazy and make it really difficult to trust. At the same time Shield would pretty much completely disregard any wind and hold its' line. I think that this is mainly due to less glide.

The lack of glide is both good and bad. It is indeed more reliable, but at the same time I'm strugling to use the Shield as a driving putter since it isn't quite as long. So for the driving duty I've held on to the Opto Pure, which is working really well unless there is a lot of wind.

I saw in the ITB video of JohnE that he had a TP Shield and I was wondering if it will be available any time soon. Also, if someone has tried one, does it have more glide than the BT ones?

In spite of its lack of glide, Shield makes a pretty nice driving putter - stability to absorb my flaws in form I guess.
