is this the longest hole in the world?

The Black Course in WV, hole 18 is 1008' with probably a 200ft drop, as you tee off from the top of a "mountain"

http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course.php?id=3640

That is a fun one.. I feel like no two throws off the tee could ever be the same with the crazy wind. I wish it was a little more secluded however because the one park road is near if your shot fades way too much, wish is likely. Still a super fun hole and great way to end the round.

Nice to see your Penguins pride still!

Hole 15 at idlewild is fun. A 1001 ft of roller coaster fairway finishing with a 75-80ft drop to an island green. :wall:

The only thing about this hole is that your disc is basically gone for good if you get off the fairway. At least, that's how it was when I played in late September last year. I'd imagine it'd be even worse in July/August. I do love the design of the hole, just not that super tall grass off the fairway.

Hole 6 at Seviren Lang DGC in Georgetown In is 1011'. I parred it in rd 1 Saturday. i was thrilled.

Greetings Sire! (on at the same time again, I see). I was just working on this:

Osage Grove hole 16 will be 1117' in the long tee to long pin position. We played it in a tournament that way last year. Not truly majestic due to the lack of elevation, but rather an interesting challenge. The entire hole has soybean fields on the right side, which completely obscure any disc once they're grown over 24" high or so. About 350-400' out, there are woods on the left (guarding the 'short' tee). You jog left to the main fairway, hoping to hit the gap you can see here. The basket is at the end of the second long mound, beside the pond and in front of the shelter.

So, how about cutting and pasting a list here of all (?) the holes we can find over 1000'? Listed so far:

1650' : Swain Resort #16 blue (550' drop, opening June 2014)
1650' : Patterson Lake #7 (special: normally 1196')
1600' : Flyboy Aviation #18 (note 'extinct'…or is it?)
1495' : Sequoyah State Park #6 blue
1426' : Highbridge Hills – Gold #8 gold

1008' : The Black Course #18 (200'+ drop)
1001' : Idlewild #15 (rolling, w/drop to island green)

Similar hole at Black Diamond near Buffalo. Not quite as long though. Love ski slope courses.

I love playing this course (even though it does not love me back), but even from the gold tees, this hole doesn't break 1000 ft. It's not a very open hole either, going downhill through a very beginner friendly ski run, but if you don't hit your line as the slope zig zags, you're probably going to end up in trouble in the middle of some pretty densely packed trees.

I think that one's only 1200' or so.

No way is that only 1200 feet. It takes me a solid four or five drives to even sniff that basket. My range is 380-400 feet. Even throwing from grass and not a tee I can still easily generate 360 or more. That alone puts it well over 1500. I am thinking of bringing my measuring wheel with me this August when I play it again just to prove what I think here.

While Flyboy is only semi-extinct, I understand the runway hole is extinct when I asked about it during my recent trip there.

You must not be in the Platinum Flyboy Players Club ...

Can't wait for Solitude to open up. That's a fun hole to play. I can get it about 700' if I keep it low enough. It makes me feel cool. Of course the top pros can get it all the way to the bottom on a pure drive. Nothing like throwing down a mountain to make you feel tough.

damm thats long. i was stoked when i got a 3 on a 800ft + hole with not too much elevation drop.

Anyone know how long #18 at Turner Park in Grand Prairie TX is in its occasionally seen longest position?

http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course_files/3596/19c41e62.jpg

The map in the link shows the typical pin position for #18, which is uphill for the first 250-300ft or so, then flat, then downhill near the end. In its longest position, the pin is just short of the trees near the creek that runs through #12. Not sure if that puts it in the 1000ft club or not, although looking at the map it might.
