2015 Pros and Their Manufacturers

Prodigy losing Wysocki? Whoa. Is that company falling apart?

I don't think Prodigy is falling apart. I wouldn't be surprised if sales have not met expectations. At that point they had to revisit the money being offered to team members and offer them less guaranteed money. Which opened the door for other companies to come in with stronger offers.

The question becomes, did Prodigy get enough out of its couple years of sponsoring a large portion of the best players? They certainly built a brand quickly from nothing, but did they build a sustainable company?

I am not sure. I think pros have some influence on what forum goers and people who have a real interest in disc golf purchase. For the average guy off the street they don't know who most of these guys are. Looking at prodigy on the shelf it just doesn't jump out at you. I think some re-branding of the logo and stamps might help. Something that catches the casual players eye. I would think from a sales standpoint they are probably doing alright but probably aren't growing as fast as they expected.

I tend to agree with this (in my area anyway). There are 4 shops that I frequent and the discs in the Prodigy rack never seem to move. No names, just numbers (some only in sharpie on the rim), no flight numbers and no charts on the walls to even reference. Not to mention they sell for more.

Average Joe? Hey, this plastic looks cool, what's it do? More money? Screw it.

Sorry Whitey, it's called rating lag. Calculate only the last six months of the year and it's 1060.

I did exactly that, with every single rated round listed on the pdga. July-December 2012, would you like to try it fire yourself?

Yes, I had ten minutes to kill.

I doubt you did the ratings calculation where you throw out the rounds below deviation and double weight the last quarter.

And thats if you have a shop with Prodigy readily available. Its harder yet to sell discs that aren't even there.

The ones around here are moving some serious Trillogy, Prodigy and Discraft are not selling. Innova is steady but not as hot right now.

Assumptions: All rounds 18 holes except Madisonville (I think 24, all three rounds) and Yetter 3rd round (27). Spreadsheet available upon request.
