[Innova] Polecat

Polecats surprise me how much power they can really handle.

I can get my kitty to 300'. I play with heavier ones as I don't think a lighter weight PC would handle that much power. I'd love to be able to find one of the champ cats since the biggest flaw of the disc is that they like to tear if you hit them off something hard. Never been a fan of r-pro anything...

Occasionally I'll drain one but more importantly, my misses are always a short tap-in. About half of the baskets on my home course are on a slope, so rollaways are an issue. Not with the polecat.

Very good point that I haven't seen made in any of the Polecat threads before.

I have no idea what the physics are behind this, but for some reason its unique edge (no bevel, no bead) together with its 90° profile and its completely flat dome makes the Polecat just flop dead whenever it hits the ground. Perfect specialty disc for putts or approaches for when you absolutely can't afford a rollaway.

I'm not sure up there's another disc that performs in the same way.

This is exactly why my Polecat sees like 98% of my P&A use whenever I head west to the mountains. That rim just digs in to the ground like brakes to mitigate slides away from the basket. They'll still roll-away being round and all but you have to do something really goofy for it to catch edge and roll.

Has anyone tried a really lightweight polecat ? Like 110g? Thinking about picking one up
Yes, tons of fun :)

It requires very little power to get it down range.
If you play in heavily forested courses then it could be a very valuable addition to the bag... it's extremely finessable and glide.

Do you play in the woods?

Yes, probably 80% of holes in my area are heavily wooded

Shout out to my 150g DX Polecat which saved me lots of strokes at a tournament this weekend. The course had some really rough rough and lots of filbert trees (short bush-like trees with multiple trunks that lean out from the base) and blackberries. Every time I had to stretch out on a knee for a 100 foot approach under a low ceiling (sadly an all too common an occurrence), out came the Polecat. So little power required to float it on in and park the upshot. Some courses it hardly comes out at all, but it definitely saved me strokes this weekend.

Darn it, now you people got me wanting to try a Polecat. It's a good thing DG is so much fun, but my wallet is uttering unprintable curses at me right now...

Do you even polecat brAAA?

Omg that anny crush is so pretty. Same with that 325'ish rip which you think will flip but ends up riding out straight.

I'm the only person i've ever seen or even heard of in my area that has a Polecat in his bag. It's a cryin' shame.

How does the Polecat compare to a disc like the Sky Styler? I have been playing a lot of catch/freestyle this summer and the Sky Styler is super accurate, I wish I could throw my putters as accurately as I can with this disc. But unfortunately its huge and doesn't fit in my bag. A polecat would fit tho ... but would it fly the way I'd like?

The nice thing about Polecats is that they're at their best in DX. Pretty cheap at a local shop.

Possibly in a disc as slow-flying as a Polecat XT would be fine. My experience with Colts and Rocs is that XT flight plates tends to warp on tree hits which makes XT discs get understable much faster than DX even when they don't show a lot of cuts or scrapes. Polecats fly so slowly though that this might never be an issue.
