[Discraft] Official Discraft ZONE Thread

Haven't bought a zone in a while

1. I like puddle top esp for OS. Any other options right now or is esp still the best?

2. What about a soft zone in premium plastic? Zflex?

3. What's the least stable zone I can buy out of the box?

1. Cryztal Flx are the most dependably OS, IMO. I prefer the Ledgestone GLOs, myself.
2. No experience with ZFLX, but I assume they are similar to Cryztal FLX
3. The least stable Zone I have ever thrown is a TI, with a slight dome. Let me look and see if I still have it. If so, I will bring it to you at book club.

Interesting. I tried a JB zone, the first tree I hit it turned into a flip machine like it was a completely different mold. Did I get a lemon?

I've been testing out a JB Zone this week and it has been drilled into at least a half dozen trees, one of which from extremely close range.
There's some noticable scuffing to the plastic but flight change has been minimal.

would a JB zone ever completely straighten out? I sorta want to throw zones for all my approach shots.

Definitely. Mines on its way. Flies like a HSS0,LSS2, and doesn't look too bad either.

Aggree, My CryztalFLX is dumpy. ZFLX is straighter, though.

After many many chunks from mine it flips up some but is still overstable

As for number 1, the recent run of Ledgestones are very puddly. I got one of the flag dyed Crystals, and dang it's a puddle! Very beefy. I hear similar things about the Colorshift and BigZ, but I haven't had my hands on them.

2. Could also give BigZ or Ti a try? But it depends on how soft you're looking for.

3. Pro D, I assume. Jawbreaker seems to be a pretty good option too.

Don't sleep on the x-soft zones! They can mold up to be very puddle topped. Great for hit and stick approaches too where the Z or ESP would skip more.

Wow, maybe I will have to try another one. I love jawbreaker plastic and was so disappointed with mine. It was the literally first tree hit and the next throw it was flipping up and turning over like a beat up aviar.

I've had a jawbreaker for a year and it's gotten a bit warped and dinged up but lasted surprisingly well. It's definitely even developed a bit of turn like -1. Stands up then goes straight but still has little glide overall super nice. Sounds like a lemon I'd try another with winter approaching.

The x softs I had, bought a 3 pack, all still skipped way more than I wanted. They also seemed to chip and gouge very easily. I much prefer JB such a nice plastic!

Hey Zone throwers, anyone else catch this? BigJerm paying respect where it's due:

How long would you say it takes to beat in a X or JB Zone to be straight? I'm really loving my zones, but would love to have a couple that fly straighter.

Looks like that one JB zone that started turning over after the first tree hit was a lemon. The new one I got after I lost my last one is a beefcake.

I haven't seasoned many Zones, but mine all stayed true to straight to fade until they became uncontrollably flippy.

Pro D. My CryZtal and Glo Z are seasoning very similarly to it so it's possible. I couldn't keep it from flipping out of my hand no matter what I did. The few throws that I was able to keep it in the air, the fade never disappeared. Kind of like the flippy DX Firebirds I like to tinker with for fun.

I threw my JB Zone in a river after only a few weeks in the bag, so unfortunately I don't have the answer to this question.

I plan on asking for a new JB Zone for Christmas and I'll start the experiment again. I did really like that Jawbreaker plastic, and I too would be interested in seeing how a mellow Zone flies. Would love to have either a really mild Zone or a super beefy Envy for short & straight driving duties on 20+mph windy days. Right now I just disc up to a mid in those conditions, since monster headwinds will flip my Envies but my Titanium Zone fades out early even in a tornado.

I want a flippy Z zone

Anyone able to tell about the firmness of the 2018 Ledgestone Glo ESP Zones? I haven't bought a Zone in a while & my older one is a firm puddle top ESP. I've felt up some ESP's that I've seen in some stores and they were really soft. No thanks.
