[Millennium] Orion LS

Picked up this first run Sirius OLS at PIAS today. 168g, stamp is pretty faded, but the disc itself is in great condition. How do you think this one will fly compared to more recent runs? Any major differences?

great condition, but could still be beat in re stability. maybe someone can chime in about sols runs. I only know about olf's.

Cool, I will be testing it some tonight. I just don't have any recent runs to compare it to, haha.

That is a heck of a PIAS run, between that and the PFN Eagle. That looks like a first run. A 1.1. The stamp changed at some point, and I have 1.2s that have the current stamp. So that is almost certainly first run. What is the weight?
The OLS is a pretty new disc (2005), and they've made tons of them, so there is no real collectors value on those. Even in great condition.
I bet that one is beautifully flippy. It'd be my roller if it was heavy.

Nice, good to know! Definitely did get lucky today with these finds.

This SOLS is 168g according to the PIAS scale. Definitely a first run - I can see the small "First Run" label near the bottom of the stamp. They are just ghost letters now because the stamp is so worn. Whoever was throwing this disc sure didn't hit a lot of trees or anything. The disc structure itself is in great shape.

I am actually kind of glad it isn't collectable, because I am hoping to keep it as a thrower . Thinking it might be round out a nice SOLS - QOLS - QOLF lineup.

Stumbled upon another first run - this time at Replay Sports! 170g and in great condition. Basically the same weight as the other one, so it should serve as a nice backup.

I did throw the other first run a bit this week, and I like it so far. It is definitely flippy and can hold a nice long anhyzer line. Going to keep on practicing with it to see if I can dial it in consistently.

Figured this would be a good thread to get suggestions in, even though it's 2 years old. So I just picked up a first run QOLS and first run zipper top SOF. I'm not super familiar with millennium, and I was expecting the QOLS to be sidewinder-ish. It has more high speed stability than the SOF. I want to find something less stable, with a little more turn, than the SOF(which is very straight for me), should I get a current run SOLS? I have a chance to pick up a SOS as well, how do those fly? I think I read like a Valk-X? For reference, I currently throw teebirds 350, flat, on a good pull. Most of my drivers are 170+. I appreciate any info and any advice you millennium guys might have.

I have a couple older SOLS and they remind me of a CD quite a bit. Little turn, little fade on a hard flat throw. I do not have a big arm, so take my opinion for what it's worth, but it's a nice straight disc. It holds an anhyzer well for me, then flexes out a bit at the end. Forehand I get nice hyzer flips, and turnovers that don't come back, but do pan out nicely to flat and ride it out. Not a ton of glide, but a good disc for placement shots.

My zipper top SOLFs fade much harder, and don't turn quite as easily.

Long story short, for me SOLS is like a CD, or mellow star valk . SOLF is like a thunderbird with a little more wiggle and less dumpy fade.

Hmm. That's interesting. For me, at least initially, my SOF seems to turn more, and fade less.

I don't throw very hard backhand for what it's worth. Someone with greater arm speed may see more turn than I do from an Orion, but to me it's pretty hss. Even forehand, which I am much better at, I see the same. Different runs though may have different results.

thanks for your replies. I picked up a SOLS and it flies much more how I had imagined one would. I think the QOLS is just a little more stable in that plastic.

Dug the old OLSs out of the bin today and took them to the course for some field work. Two 1.1 QOLS and two 1.12 SOLS.

I typically use the 1.1 SOLF as my Max distance driver as it's all my arm can handle. The OLS was traveling almost as far but it locked onto a line start to finish where my SOLFs need a lot of left to right room to get Max distance. Definitely throwing a QOLS and SOLS in the bag for the tighter wooded holes around here.

Picked two M Orion LS hoping they will beat in and I can drop the star roadrunner from my bag. They feel great, nice and gummy.

Any idea what run these are? There is nothing marked on the stamp.

What's the factory ink? G4?

Interesting. I've put it to the Millennium brain trust. I expected it to say "G4", which is the ink for the first run. I've never actually seen that ink before. Not for Innova or for Millennium.

What runs are these MOLS considered?

One more question...

I've seen some comparisons to the Sidewinder, but what exactly is the OLS made of, mold-wise? Is it the SW wing, Valk wing, something different?
