American Disc Golf Tour

11 "committed" players, huh? Ballin'.

Also, the player party costs extra and is required if you are a competitor?

Looks like the party doubles as the Players' Meeting (hence mandatory), and it does not cost extra to attend. They're selling guest tickets to the party for $20 a piece, though. Seems fairly standard.

I was checking out pricing options and trying some different options on the sign-up form.... I guess maybe I will sign up :doh::doh:

That must be anticipated profit sharing for all participants. When the massive crowds tune in online and this gets bumped to ESPN with a massive deal, it's only fair that the players get a small chunk.

Also I'm gonna need someone's cable subscription password, since I cut the cable the WatchESPN is a no-go for me. After all this I may not be able to watch.

seriously though, do you think anyone will stream their video somehow so that us non-cable subscribers will be able to watch? I wonder what the options will be :\

People 'stream streams' all the time but ESPN is usually pretty on top of shutting them down. Granted, that is for bigger more mainstream type of events.

If you want to watch it free, here is an option. Sling TV has a 7 day free trial, just start the trial before the event and you can stream it free. Just cancel on or before the 7th day, otherwise $20/mo. It gives you access to the Watch ESPN app so you can stream ESPN3 and you can stream several cable channels like ESPN, AMC, etc.

Now you're not at the mercy of anyone else to watch it live. :)

I have Hulu and Amazon, on the fence about Sling for all the cable channels. We'll see if I want to use my one-time free week for this, or something else.

I already said i would preiscope the thing..

Tyna come up on a few million views for my channel duh.

Periscope was what I was envisioning... I guess we'll see how it plays out.

Tweet from ADGT:

Please take the time to educate yourself on ADGT rule changes; misconception is the rules are totally different... fb.me/7XQhdeNok

Or, more completely, from their Facebook page:

Please take the time to educate yourself on ADGT rule changes; misconception is the rules are totally different from standard PDGA rules. Reality is only minimal changes that make the game better for new viewers for TV based on ESPN3 standards have been established which include:
1. Increasing the the "inside the circle" putt distance from 10meters to 50ft
2. More generous stance rules on run ups from outside the circle making stance violations easier to spot and who is able to call a foot fault

2. More generous stance rules on run ups from outside the circle making stance violations easier to spot and who is able to call a foot fault

Also; the lie is infinately long and rules violations are impossible to call by players. We didn't define what OB actually means either. Good luck!

Well, edit a book down to a single page, you can't expect it to cover everything.

Here's where they really amuse me. They're now admitting that their rules are not "totally different" from PDGA rules, but only "minimal changes" to that long established "standard" set of rules. However, nowhere in their own rules of play do they acknowledge that there is such a thing as the PDGA Rules of Play, let alone that their rules are adaptations and modifications of those rules. Wouldn't that be helpful to the folks that they're supposedly going to be newly exposing to the game of disc golf?

I mean, how hard would it be to lead their rules page with a statement like "We're following the PDGA rules of play with the following exceptions/modifications", and then add notes to their list of rules to identify to which PDGA rule each of theirs corresponds.

Their rules as is are basically a coded message to which they haven't provided anyone with the secret decoder ring.

With each rules change, ask yourself how this applies:

".....make the game better for new viewers for TV based on ESPN3 standards "

For the life of me, I can't see how some of these make it better for TV (!) viewers, or guess what ESPN standards required them. But that's just me.

The real trick is to read through the PDGA rulebook, cross-check it with the ADGT, and figure out what's missing. Then sign on with one of these pros as Course Attorney to use that to his advantage.
