I get it's a big brand name, but doesn't Keen sponsor Doss? Is this really earth-shattering?
I mean, good for him, it's awesome, but....
I would be willing to bet it is just shoes and no dough. Has their ever been a sponsor who has forked over some serious money for a dger-certainly not.
Not until that money will warrant brand identity and adoption by the masses to justify such expenditures.
I think the "earth-shattering"-ness of it is the size of the brand name. According to Forbes, Adidas is one of the 100 biggest brands in the world (#83 in 2015).
No slight to Keen intended, but Adidas could probably buy them 10 times over. For those of us looking for greater exposure and more outside money coming into the sport, that they're getting involved at all is a big deal.
Didn't Paul rock Adidas indoor soccer shoes for the Euro Open? I recall him saying they worked best on the turf teepads they used and manicured fairways.
I've been rocking those Adidas trail running shoes since last season. They are fantastic. Super hardcore tread, light weight, water resistant and they hold up to a beating. Played from March until December in them, and they still look new ish.
Yup. Keen's annual sales in 2011 were approx $240M. Adidas were $13,320M. So Adidas is 50X the size of Keen.
Wowzas. That's great for him. How many pairs of shoes does he go through in a season?
I'm gonna get accused, yet again, of thread drift, but I literally have to scrub the bottoms clean off before they separate in any meaningful way. The ones I have are butt ugly though.
Do you think Paul has to carry the Adidas shoes in an Adidas bag or can he carry them in any bag not made by a shoe manufacturer?
