Ricky the Best Putter that Disc Golf Will Ever See?

Don't get me wrong, Paul is an amazing putter and player, but no one can actually think that he putts as well as Ricky.

What do y'all think?

Uh, yes I can think that Paul putts as well as Ricky, and in 2015 Paul was much better than Ricky. This year (2016), Ricky made some great long putts and Paul's putting was off, but over time what I've seen is that Paul is at least as good as Ricky. None of my comments should be construed to be negative about Ricky, of course.

As to best ever? Time will tell on that, and there are other candidates from the past and well as new up-and-comers to talk about.

I don't think Paul was better than Ricky in 2015, not at putting. Proximity to the hole, clutch shots, fewer mistakes; yes Paul was better. If we could somehow have the statistics, I'd think it was pretty even putting, even a slight edge to Ricky.

In 2015 Paul was winning virtually every tournament in sight, including the Grand Slam, and it seemed like Paul could not miss at all, from near or far. Yes, I do wish we had those stats, because I think Paul's putting in 2015 blew Ricky away... and not just because of these "proximity" excuses. Sheesh.

Granted, in 2016 Ricky's putting blew away Paul's. But I am not ready to grant Ricky the title of "best putter of all time".

I wasn't using that as an excuse, I was just saying Ricky isn't as accurate as Paul; and Paul made more clutch puts and fewer mistakes.

You can probably watch every round of McBeths from 2015. Go watch em all and come back, we'll see ya in a few days.

It's impossible to compare players from different eras when making a case for the GOAT. But like Dana said, Paul's putting last year (and for the past few years) was insane.

I think you can pretty easily compare putting in different eras (provided you saw them)- it hasn't changed all that much. Baskets are definitely easier now than 15 years ago but not so much as to render old results not meaningful.

No. McBeth's putt in 2015 was unreal. Go back and watch every round from McBeth at '15 Worlds. He was legit putting the disc on metal from 80 and missed 5-6 total from inside the circle over the whole event.

Came here to say the exact same thing my friend :hfive: I witnessed it all live, it was insane!

He hit these in the same day, and then hit it again the next day.

Yea, I was speaking more in general, but you are right. I wonder though if you could describe the tournament environment back then. Do you think it makes putting today much more difficult, pressure packed, with galleries and cameras...etc?

Hard to quantify in general. There were galleries at some events, mostly not. I'm not sure that the presence of spectators adds more pressure in a big moment but it certainly adds more potential for distraction. I would imagine the guys who are at the top of big events regularly are pretty used to spectators and cameras at this point.

Um... Nope! Best putter hasnt been born yet as disc golf hardly has any athletes etc from a young age who have made it as pros like other sports.

Ricky is good at disc golf. Still not great.

I would expect the best putter to be someone who isn't a touring pro; perhaps someone who isn't awesome at the rest of the game.

So, nobody is great at disc golf?

Good, great, etc are all relative terms. I think you have to consider the best player in the world to be a great player.

History will tell. He is in the works for sure but i put great on a whole different level vs good. Far from a KC status IMO.

KC is a great disc golfer.
